Congratulations Card for CQC Challenge #33

Tuesdays are so fun! I love sharing with you the creations I make for the Design Team at the Colour Q! We have a blast! Here's the color challenge for this week! The colors include Summer Sun (Retiring), Kiwi Kiss (Retired), Bermuda Bay (Retiring), Soft Suede, and Whisper White! I hope you'll get your stamps out and join us!
My card this week is based upon the sketch at the Clean & Simple Stamping blog! I love this layout! It's super cute! Flowers sprinkled throughout a card layout are always great! ;)
Stampin' Essentials Tips:
  • I used the Stampin' Up! Boho Blossoms punch (my favorite flower punch - I use it ALL the time) and punched out flowers in Bermuda Bay, Kiwi Kiss, and Soft Suede card stock.
  • Then I layered the flowers together and adhered them to my Whisper White card stock!
  • The centers of my flowers are yellow brads from the Circle Fire Rhinestone brads! Don't they match great!?!
  • My ribbon is from actually the Stampin' Up! Crushed Curry 1/2" Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon, but it looks so much like Summer Sun that I used it on my card!
  • I tied the ribbon in a bow, then attached a Summer Sun Corduroy button in the middle of the bow with a Mini Glue Dot!

Baby Shower Card For My Sweet Friend Amy V.

My sweet friend Amy is having her baby shower this Saturday so I made this card for her! They don't know what they're having yet (girl or boy) so I created this card with pink, green, brown, and yellow so it would be a 'neutral' card! Although it definitely looks more girly to me since I think they're having a girl! hahaha! My card layout is based upon Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch challenge! I made mine a square card since I needed more room to add an envelope which was the challenge at Everything But the Kitchen Sink! I really like how it turned out with the butterflies fluttering out of the envelope!
My envelope was die cut using the Stampin' Up! Scallop Envelope die! I cut it out of Chocolate Chip DSP and since it's double-sided paper, you can see both patterns since the envelope is left open! The 'for your shower' sentiment is stamped from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set!
The letters the spelt out 'baby' were cut out using my Big Shot and the Billboard alphabet die! The Beautiful Wings Embosslits die is still available for purchase from the Occasions Mini Catalog! This die will also be featured in the new Idea Book & Catalog which comes out July 1st!
Ink: Chocolate Chip (100908)
Card Stock: Pretty in Pink (100459), So Saffron (105118), Certainly Celery (105125), Chocolate Chip (102128), Whisper White (100730)

Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!

Colour Q #30 and Taylor's Collage Card Sketch

Good morning! I've been looking forward to this color challenge at the Colour Q for sometime now! I just think these colors together are wonderful! What a great combination of Sage Shadow, Always Artichoke, Cameo Coral, Bravo Burgundy, and Whisper White! Here's what I came up with this week:

My card also uses the collage card sketch challenge at Taylor Expressions! This square layout was so fun to work with! I started with my card case of Always Artichoke cut to size for a 5-1/4" square card. Then I layered on Cameo Coral card stock, then Sage Shadow, and finally to the fun part of the squares! I punched out these Bravo Burgundy squares with my 1-3/8" square punch and lined them up 3 across for a total of 9 squares to make my 'grid'. Then I punched out an Always Artichoke scallop circle, a 1-3/8" Cameo Coral circle and then finally my sentiment punched out with at 1-1/4" Whisper White circle!

To decorate each square, I tried to incorporate punches, texture, embellishments and stamping! The stamped images are from the Pocket Silhouettes stamp set - and I off centered them just a little for some contrast! I hope you like this card and feel free to play along with the Colour Q this week!

Mojo Monday Sketch and Color Dare Challenge!

What a fun color challenge at the Color Dare this week! Using my two favorite Stampin' Up! greens: Old Olive and Certainly Celery, along with the bright (and retiring) Summer Sun, and Whisper White! I paired this color challenge with the Mojo Monday Sketch #136. Square cards are always fun for me since they are bigger and more, fun stamping and embellishments can be added! My card is 5-1/4" Square and fits perfectly inside the Stampin' Up! Whisper White Square Envelopes (107289). Here's my take on the Mojo Monday sketch this week:
Round or Square? I went with Square and used the Vintage Vogue stamp set from the Occasions Mini Catalog page 26. This lovely stamp set features 8 wonderful stamps and comes in Wood Mount (117690) OR Clear Mount (118598). This stamp set WILL be in the 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalog - which is great news! After April 30th though, it won't be available again until the catalog release on July 1st! Best to order now so you don't have to wait two months before you can order it! I also entered this project in the OCCC Blossoms Challenge! Flowers are just so fun to stamp, emboss, and decorate with! I found a new challenge blog today thanks to my friend, Stacey! It's called DeNami Design blog they had a Spring Themed Challege, so I entered this card there as well!
Stampin' Essentials Tips:
  • My 'F' monogram and friends stamp is on a 2" Whisper White circle cut with my Circle Scissor Plus! I first stamped it in Summer Sun ink, then on another piece of card stock I stamped it in Old Olive ink, trimmed out with my Paper Snips, and adhered this piece on top of the Summer Sun 'F'. My Certainly Celery Circle is 2-1/8" and the Old Olive Circle is 2-1/4" all layered together!
  • I embossed a piece of Certainly Celery card stock with the Finial Press Embossing folder for some texture and a delicate look!
  • My polka-dot ribbon is actually Crushed Curry 1/2" Grosgrain Ribbon with a Filigree brad in the middle! The yellows are so similiar and it looks great with the Summer Sun Corduroy brads!

Color Dare 'Friends' Color Challenge card

I'm a firm believer that any and every color looks AMAZING with Baja Breeze! hehehe! Here's another fabulous color challenge from the Color Dare to use: Ruby Red, Baja Breeze, and Whisper White!
Paired with a superb card sketch challenge from the Sweet Stop - I really liked how this card turned out! Plus the Vintage Vogue stamp set is definitely a favorite of mine as well! This set is on page 26 of the Occasions Mini Catalog. It comes in either the Wood Mount (117690) OR the Clear Mount (118598) and has a coordinating Very Vintage Jumbo Wheel (117693).
Hint: If you do purchase the Clear Mount set, here are my block size recommendations: Block 'A' (118487), Block 'C' (118486), Block 'G' (118489), and Block 'H' (118490). If you're interested in switching over to the Clear Mount sets - I do suggest taking the plunge and purchasing the Block Bundle (118491) for $69.95 and saving 10%. Then you'll never need to purchase them individually since you'll have them all! I store mine in their original packaging (just to protect them) in a clear plastic storage bin!
Stampin' Essentials Tips:
  • My card base is Ruby Red card stock, which I ran through my Big Shot with the Finial Press Emossing Folder! Then I layered some Urban Garden DSP (Retired) on top using Stampin' Dimensionals for some depth!
  • I cut a 2" circle of Whisper White card stock and a 2-1/4" circle of Ruby Red card stock using my Circle Scissor Plus.
  • On the 2" circle, I stamped the 'F' mongram stamp first in Baja Breeze ink, then in Ruby Red ink. Cut out the 'F' and layered on top of the Baja Breeze 'F' using Stampin' Dimensionals!
  • Then I stamped the flowers - the larger one in Ruby Red and the smaller in Baja Breeze. Cut out using my Stampin' Snips and layered on top of each other!
  • To add some BLING I used the Fire Rhinestone brads! Viola!
Stamps: Vintage Vogue (118598 - Clear Mount)
Ink: Baja Breeze (Retired), Ruby Red (102259)
Card Stock: Ruby Red (102030), Whisper White (100730)
Paper: Urban Garden (Retired)
Embellishments: Fire Circle Rhinestone brads (109110)
Tools: Circle Scissor Plus (112530), Glass Mat (112531), Big Shot (113439), Finial Press Embossing Folder (115963), Paper-Piercing tool (116631), Mat Pack (105826)
Stampin' Essentials: Block 'C' (118486), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430), Mini Glue Dots (103683)

Colour Q ~ Happy Easter card

With Easter just a few weeks away and a beautiful color challenge at the Colour Q, I thought I'd make an Easter card this beautiful Sunday afternoon! Don't you just love these colors of Rich Razzleberry, Baja Breeze, Apricot Appeal, Cameo Coral, and Whisper White!?! They are just so pretty together!
The Clean & Simple Stamping blog also had another great layout! Love the placement of the flowers throughout this card sketch with the the sentiment has the main focal point! Very cool!

The Stampin' Up! Finial Press Embossing folder is my second favorite way to add texture and design to card stock! The Perfect Polka Dots Embossing folder is my first favorite! I ran a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Baja Breeze card stock through my Big Shot with the Finial Press folder and layered it on top of my Rich Razzleberry card base!
Stamps: Well Scripted (117072 - Wood Mount) or (118601 - Clear Mount)
Ink: Rich Razzleberry (115658), Cameo Coral (103035), Baja Breeze (Retired)
Card Stock: Rich Razzleberry (115316), Whisper White (100730), Apricot Appeal (105124), Cameo Coral (100475), Baja Breeze (Retired)
Punches: Scallop Trim Border (118402 - FREE during SAB)
Embellishments: Circle Fire Rhinestone Brads (109110)

Merci Beaucoup

The weekend is here! Yipee! I have another fun creation to share with you today! I just love the color combination from the Play Date Cafe color challenge!! Bravo Burgundy and Bermuda Bay are a fantastic, elegant duo! The card sketch is from the Cupcake Craft challenge and I just love square card layouts since I can add so many more goodies to my card!

  • My card base was cut from Basic Black card stock to 5-1/4" x 10-1/2", scored and folded in half to make a 5-1/4" square card!
  • The Bermuday Bay double-side DSP was the perfect back drop for my card, then I flipped the leftover paper over and cut out a scallop circle with my Big Shot!
  • Then I took another piece of Basic Black card stock and embossed it with my Finial Press folder - honestly my favorite! This folder is great since the impression is so clear and crisp! The pattern is so elegant too!
  • I stamped my Eiffel Tower in Basic Black ink and colored in some of the circles with my Bermuda Bay marker! The brush tip is my favorite! The Stampin' Up! markers are the best since they are dual tipped and come in all the SU colors! Plus this year they are now offering a 6-pack of the In Colors (including Bermuda Bay)!

Happy Birthday Mom!

My mom's birthday is this Thursday, January 14th and I made this card for her! My mom really likes sleek, elegant things with a flair of contemporary so I'm hoping she likes this clean and simple design. She's an interior designer and has a great eye for color and she really likes dark gray since it pretty much goes with every color, and of course she likes birds, bird cages, topiary trees, etc!

The Crazy 4 Challenges blog had a Birthday challenge this week, the Play Date Cafe had a wonderful color challenge, and the Pink Elephant blog had a great card sketch (which I flipped for this card). I had fun creating this card with these challenges in mind! They totally inspire me!
Don't forget my blog candy! There's still time to get entered in the drawing for some fabulous idea books! For more details, please click here!
Texture, texture, texture! I used three different texture plates and folders to add some subtle sophistication to this card! The Finial Press Embossing Folder is totally my favorite! I've used it on so many projects lately, I truly love it! Plus, polka-dot texture plates are awesome! Polka-dots make me happy, especially the small dots patterns! Stampin' Up! has a new Perfect Polka Dots Textured Folder! It's definitely on my must have list! It's on page 35 of the new Occasions Mini Catalog! You can view and/or download a copy by clicking here!

Stamps:
Teeny Tiny Wishes (115370)
Ink: Basic Gray (103274)
Card Stock: Whisper White (100730), Basic Gray (108692), Basic Black (102851), Crushed Curry (115319), Neutrals 12x12 Textured (108693)

Hope you have a wonderful Tuesday!!!

Praying for You...

Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes yesterday! I had a very relaxing day with my parent's up in Anacortes, WA! We watched football, went on a long walk, read, watched movies, and just had a great time! I'll be heading home tomorrow (back to Oregon) so today I'm enjoying the luxury of relaxing and enjoying the beautiful Pudget Sound (they live on the water)!!!
I'm offering my first ever blog candy and if you'd like more information about yesterday's post, please click here! Oh and some more fun news??? I made the Top 5 at the Taylored Expressions blog for my baby card last week! WhooHoo! Click here to check it out! That sure made my day!!!
Wanted to share with you this 'Praying for You' card I made for the PPA24 sketch challenge and also for the Colour Q color challenge! I love both of these blogs - they have wonderful challenges and the ladies are just so sweet! I fell in love with the color combination of Basic Gray, Bashful Blue, and Whisper White! Oh my, they just look so elegant together!
Stampin' Essentials Tips:

My flower comes from the Level 3 Hostess Set, Kind & Caring Thoughts! I first stamped the whole flower in Bashful Blue ink, then using my blender pen, I removed the color from the stem. I pooled some color from my Basic Gray ink pad on the lid and used my blender pen to color back the stem using the Basic gray ink! The layered piece of Whisper White behind the flower is textured using the Finial Press Texture folder! This texture folder is soon becoming a favorite of mine! I lined up the brads in a row using my Mat Pack and template! The pretty Bashful Blue paper is from the Patterns Designer Series Paper! It's double-sided, which I love! Stampin' Up! offers this DSP in 14 different colors including all 6 of the new In Colors! Oh how I want every color!

A Flutter By Thank You!

Here's my card for this week's Mojo Card Sketch Challenge! I also found a new challenge blog this week called Flutter By Wednesdays! Their challenge this week was to create a project with Butterflies, angels, or fairies and something NEW! Well my card features a butterfly die cut with the Stampin' Up! Beautifull Butterflies die! With this die you can get {4} different butterflies! WhooHoo! I love butterflies - they are so cute! The NEW things for me, was a new card sketch, a new blog challenge at the Flutter By Wednesdays, new color combination, and a new punch technique using the Curly Label punch!!! Lots of new things for me!

I decided my butterfly on this card needed some layers and texture, it's layered with Taken with Teal and Pumpkin Pie! The felt flower in the middle is my body for the butterfly! If you love felt and new embellishments, the New Occasions Mini Catalog has a great new pack of flowers in the Sweet Pea Stitched Felt, which includes 52 pieces! My color choices for this card were based upon the new Sweet Pea DSP stack - oh yes it's a pack of {48} Double-Sided 12x12 sheets! This color combination is: Chocolate Chip, Taken with Teal, Pretty in Pink, Rose Red, Pumpkin Pie, and Old Olive! My Taken with Teal border on the bottom of the card is punched out with the Curly Label punch! I just punched out 3 of them and adhered them right next to each other! To make the 'pennant' on the Rose Red card stock strip where my 'Thanks' sentiment sits, I punched the edge of the card stock with the Square punch angled diagnally!

You can earn the set I used on the card FOR FREE during the Sale-A-Bration promotion! The Thank You Kindly set is on page 11 of the SAB brochure. To find out more, please click here!

A Clean and Simple Hello!

Hi Friends! Hope you are all having a wonderful day! I had so much fun creating this card since I was able to incorporate {3} challenges in one card!!! Plus two of the challenges were new for me so it was an extra special stamping time for me! Lot's of inspiration and fun to be had! The Color Dare blog posted a great color challenge with the SU colors: Cameo Coral, Bashful Blue, and Soft Suede! Then I found the Pink Elephant blog and they posted two fabulous card sketches and I chose this layout since I don't usually make cards in this size - so that was fun! Then of course the Our Creative Corner blog posted a challenge of keeping it clean and simple, so I kept my stamping to a minimum with just a simple sentiment from the Stampin' Up! Chic Boutique stamp set! I love the font in the 'hello' - it's just too sweet!

Stampin' Essentials Tips:
  • My card base is cut from a 12"x 12" Textured piece of Bashful Blue card stock! It's cut at 3-1/4" and scored at 6" (since it's 12" long). The fold is on the left side rather than at the top! Then I used my 3/16" corner rounder to round the top right corner!
  • I layered a pieced of DSP from the Thoroughly Modern paper pack on top! I love the pattern in the Soft Suede piece!
  • My Butterfly was cut out of Cameo Coral card stock then I added texture by running it through my Big Shot with the Finial Press Texture folder! The Whisper White button serves as it's body! I love either using buttons, brads, or ribbon for the center of my butterflies!
  • The Whisper White card stock trip is punched out with the Eyelet Border punch and the Soft Suede Polka-Dot Ribbon is layered on top!
  • My sentiment is stamped in Cameo Coral Classic Ink on Whisper White card stock then punched out with the Curly Label punch! I cut the punched out piece in half, and tucked it behind the ribbon!
  • Stampin' Up! has the perfect envelopes for this size card! The Whisper White Small Open-End Envelopes come in a pack of 20 for $7.50! Item number for ordering is: 107286

Love is in the Air!

Love is in the air! Oh yes, Happy Heart Day is next month! Wow! I thoroughly enjoyed making this little chocolate box since I love trying new things! I was inspired by the So Shelli challenge to make a Valentine's Day project and also the Pals Paper Arts blog to make Anything but a Card! I was totally looking forward to making this Top Note Box with the help of the SCS tutorial, which was superb I might add! Fun Fact: Yes, this box was made with {1} sheet of Chocolate Chip 8-1/2" x 11" card stock (not including the additional decorations and embellishments)!

Here's the side of the box where you open it!!

Here's the inside of my box with candies!!! Yum!

If you'd like to make a Top Note Box of your own, I highly recommend using the following Stampin' Up! supplies! It all coordinates and works perfectly together! Don't forget, tomorrow is the first day of SALE-A-BRATION!!!!!

  • To get the wavy Real Red card stock strip, I first distressed the paper with my Bone Folder, then added a piece of Sticky Strip behind it, and just looped the paper on top of itself! The paper is so much easier to work with after it's distressed!
  • The top half of my box is stamped with the Tres Chic background stamp in Chocolate Chip ink! I love the many fonts and words that this stamp adds to the 'love' feel of my box!
Plus if you REALLY love this stamp, you can decorate your house with it! It's featured in the new Definitely Decorative brochure as a new vinyl decor element! It'd be perfect for an entry room or craft room!

    Happy Stamping!

Thanks so Much....a card sketch!

I love sketches! Here's another great MOJO sketch to get your creativity flowing! The rich colors in the Stampin' Up! Cottage Wall DSP were my inspiration for color choices: Rich Razzleberry paired with Old Olive along with Orchid Opulence for a monochromatic look! The beautiful texture of the Finial Press Texture folder was the perfect back drop for this card!

The Stamp I used comes from the Very Thankful set on page 209 of the SU Idea Book & catalog!
Stampin' Up! designs a stamp set each year to help raise money for the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC). For every set sold, Stampin' Up! will donate $2 to the RMHC! I love making a difference and this set is too cute not to add to my collection! To learn more about how SU helps the RMHC, please click here! I stamped it in Jet Black StazOn Ink for a crisp and clear look! A touch of DSP in the corner of my card balances out the great stamp and fun flower! Double-Sided designer series paper was perfect for layering 3 flowers together! I ran 2 pieces of Cottage Wall DSP through my Big Shot with the Daisies #2 die!
