Stampin' Celebration Inspiration Challenge #15

Happy Thursday to you! We have another fun Stampin' Celebration Inspiration Challenge for you this week! This challenge really reminded me of the first few weeks of school so I focused on a few of my favorite Primary Colors - Red, Green, and Blue! I hope you'll come out and join us this week and play along!
My friend Susan gave me some super cute DSP that was just perfect for this challenge so I used it this week (it's not SU paper - but I love it)! Here's what I came up with:

My card layout is based upon this week's Mojo Monday sketch! It seems likes its been weeks since I've played along with the Mojo challenge, but this week I really liked the layout and thought it worked well with the SCIC!
Stampin' Essentials Tips:
  • I LOVE the New Apple Blossoms Level 2 Stamp set (120139)! It's so versatile and cute! It's probably one of my favorites from the New Stampin' Up! Idea Book & Catalog! The images are adorable and the fonts of the sentiments are just SO cute! You can earn this set for FREE with a $300 workshop and/or catalog party! There's still time to book a workshop in August and earn $25 EXTRA Hostess Dollars! CLICK HERE to learn more!
  • My 'A Note of Thanks' sentiment is from the Thank You Kindly Stamp Set (111700) on page 158 of the SU Idea Book & Catalog! If you don't have your copy of the IBC, Email Me and I'll mail one to you! Catalogs cost $9.95 + $4.90 shipping and include a Definitevly Decorative Brochure, Wish List, Summer Mini Catalog, PLUS you'll be added to my mailing list and will receive all future Mini Catalogs this year! I always enjoy giving gifts to my customers, so you'll get a fun little gift from me too!
  • To create the large scallop border, I used the Fancy Flower Punch (118073). I punched out two flowers from the Baja Breeze card stock, then pieced them together to create a scallop! You can CLICK HERE to read my original blog post with a step-by-step tutorial of this technique!

A Note of Thanks for Janet

I went to lunch with the sweetest gal on Saturday, her name is Janet! We ate at PF Changs then headed over to the movies and watched 'Oceans'. She is just so fun and easy to talk to! I made this thank you card for her. I think she's close to my mom's age, but she still is a dear friend to me and very encouraging! So glad I was able to spend the afternoon with her and listening to her stories about her husband Sid, their granddaughters, the home in southern Oregon Sid built for her and just the precious memories of her blessed life! Thanks Janet!!

My card was based on the super cool layout this the week at the Sweet Sunday Sketches! I love Karen's sketches! For my flower focal point, I die cut a Whisper White daisy, added a Filigree Designer Brad (free during May), and a Chocolate Chip Striped Epoxy brad (from the Occasions Mini catalog) in the center! I have no idea if the Epoxy brads will be featured in the next catalog but I certainly hope so! I loved them!

Kind Thanks in Chocolate and Kiwi

Hello! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I sure did! My friend Lizzy lives on a farm and we fed her goats and chased chickens around! It was quite fun and very amusing! Her mom makes the BEST Gluten-free goodies! It's always a delight when I get to have muffins or cookies that are gluten-free! Most things have wheat and/or gluten so I savor GOOD tasting baked goods that are gluten-free!

Anyways, onto today's card! The Just Add Ink blog had a fantastic color challenge using two of my favorites: Kiwi Kiss, Chocolate Chip and Barely Banana!

I paired those great colors with a sketch from Karen's Sweet Sunday Challenge and this 'Kind Thanks' card is what I came up with!

Using the Awash With Flowers stamp set, I rotated and repeatedly stamped the flower image to get a full looking daisy - since the stamp is just a half of a flower image - if that makes sense! I went out of my comfort zone quite a bit on this card stamping on Kiwi Kiss card stock and throwing a ton of brads in one spot for the center of the flower! It's always good to try new things and "expand your range" - one of my favorite quotes from the movie Step Up!

Stampin' Up! COLOR RENOVATION!!!!

Stampin' Up! announced BIG news this week! They are doing a COLOR RENOVATION starting with the 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalog! It's exciting and very much needed in my opinion! One of the many great aspects of Stampin' Up! is the company's desire to always be in the forefront of paper crafting and scrapbooking trends and color is one of the biggest components of that! So they're changing the line-up! Retiring 30 current colors, adding 5 new colors, adding 5 NEW InColors, bringing some retired InColors back and revamping the color families! There no longer will be 4 Color Families and 1 Neutral family! The Color families will now be called Collections and will consist of 4 Color Collections - each containing 10 colors each! So essentially there will be 40 colors + 5 InColors!

I know you'll want to stock up on your favorite colors that will be retired on June 30th! To help you with ordering, I'm going to list below the colors that are retiring with a link to my Stampin' Up! website where you can shop for all the products we carry in the particular color you're shopping for! For instance, if you're bummed out Cameo Coral is retiring (like I am!) then you can click here to shop for all the inks, re-fills, cartridges, markers, card stock, DSP, and accessories in that color so you can stock up now! Believe me, with a Color Renovation this huge, these colors will disappear come June 1st, so take advantage of the opportunity to buy them now!!!

But I have more GOOD news! Notice the colors in my card at the top of my post!?! If you LOVE Melon Mambo, it WILL be in the next catalog as well as Whisper White, So Saffron and Kraft (to be re-named Crumb Cake)! Sorry, Bermuda Bay didn't make the cut and will be retiring on June 30th! CLICK here to start shopping On-Line 24/7 for the Stampin' Up! supplies I used to make this card!

Hello friends! I wanted to share with you three cards I made using the awesome Clean & Simple card sketch! So quick and easy - I love it and with the swirls, it's just too much fun!!!

A Flutter By Thank You!

Here's my card for this week's Mojo Card Sketch Challenge! I also found a new challenge blog this week called Flutter By Wednesdays! Their challenge this week was to create a project with Butterflies, angels, or fairies and something NEW! Well my card features a butterfly die cut with the Stampin' Up! Beautifull Butterflies die! With this die you can get {4} different butterflies! WhooHoo! I love butterflies - they are so cute! The NEW things for me, was a new card sketch, a new blog challenge at the Flutter By Wednesdays, new color combination, and a new punch technique using the Curly Label punch!!! Lots of new things for me!

I decided my butterfly on this card needed some layers and texture, it's layered with Taken with Teal and Pumpkin Pie! The felt flower in the middle is my body for the butterfly! If you love felt and new embellishments, the New Occasions Mini Catalog has a great new pack of flowers in the Sweet Pea Stitched Felt, which includes 52 pieces! My color choices for this card were based upon the new Sweet Pea DSP stack - oh yes it's a pack of {48} Double-Sided 12x12 sheets! This color combination is: Chocolate Chip, Taken with Teal, Pretty in Pink, Rose Red, Pumpkin Pie, and Old Olive! My Taken with Teal border on the bottom of the card is punched out with the Curly Label punch! I just punched out 3 of them and adhered them right next to each other! To make the 'pennant' on the Rose Red card stock strip where my 'Thanks' sentiment sits, I punched the edge of the card stock with the Square punch angled diagnally!

You can earn the set I used on the card FOR FREE during the Sale-A-Bration promotion! The Thank You Kindly set is on page 11 of the SAB brochure. To find out more, please click here!

Clean & Simple: Thanks card

Oh my goodness, I LOVE card sketches! Designing is so fun when there's a sketch to follow - but having a sketch AND a color challenge is way too fun! My card today features the card sketch posted at Fall-to-Layout blog and the color challenge is from Our Creative Corner! The color challenges uses the Stampin' Up! colors: Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Pumpkin Pie, and Whisper White! I chose to use Chocolate Chip, Whisper White and improvise and use Really Rust! The Stampin' Up! Level One Hostess gift has the Patterns Pack DSP III with this totally cute patterned paper - so I wanted to use this paper! The sketch I followed was clean and simple, so my card is a quick and easy card that can totally be created in 10 minutes or less!
Covering the flap of the envelope is a fun way to dress up a typically plain white envelope! I had a few scraps of the matching Really Rust DSP around so I pieced those together and covered the envelope! The trick is to cut pieces that are about 6" long by 3" wide, adhere them to the flap, turn them over, and trim around the edge! Super quick and easy!

What I love about this sketch is the row of three flowers! Tip: My white flowers each have a Chocolate Chip Corduroy button in the center! The Stampin' Up! Corduroy Buttons are a beautiful way to add texture and dimension to your projects! They are 100% cotton and each container comes with 24 pieces: 8 each of 3 styles!!! These buttons are part of a bundle on sale during the Online Extravaganza!
