Cheer Up Buttercup with a PPA Sketch

I have another catalog Sneak Peek for you from the upcoming Stampin' Up! 2014-2015 Annual Catalog!  My card today is based off of the amazing sketch drawn up by a member of the Pals for the PPA #204 challenge!  I love being part of this amazing group of Pals, it's truly an honor to get to know them better thru our FB chats and webinar gatherings!  I simply love having Mary Fish as an upline!  It just makes me happy.

Feel free to play along with the sketch challenge or simply stop by to check out the fabulous talent in our group!  Click here to upload your creation!

So the sketch, in my opinion, is a very fun layout.  Several pieces work together to create the finished project.  In planning what I wanted to do, I knew I wanted to share with you the NEW In Colors and the new Moonlight DSP.  Those elements became what I used on the larger pieces of the sketch so that they got highlighted the most!

Stampin' Essentials Tips:
  • My card base is the brand new color I know you'll love, Hello Honey!  It's a fabulous shade of yellow that is sophisticated and well, very charming!  You'll be seeing more of this fabulous color since it'll be around for the next 2 glorious years!
  • I haven't used my Hexagon Hive Framelit so I thought it work wonderfully with the geometric theme of the the stamp set and DSP.  I cute the Hexagon Hive Framelit out with another gorgeous In Color, Lost Lagoon!  It is my favorite of the 5 since it is a handsome shade of Blue reminiscent of Baja Breeze from a few years ago!
  • The Cheer Up Buttercup sentiment is stamped from the Geometrical stamp set found in the 2014 Occasions Catalog.  HINT!!!  This stamp set will continue to be available for purchase in the upcoming 2014-2015 Annual Catalog.  This set has been a huge hit since it's so trendy.  I'm excited to use it more and show you it's versatility in upcoming blog posts!
These products will be available for purchase June 2nd

Card Stock:  Lost Lagoon (133679), Hello, Honey (133678)
DSP:  Moonlight (133701) - this is a stack of 48 sheets sized 4-1/2" x 6-1/2"

Hello card for 300 Mojo Monday Card Sketches

Happy 300 sketches to Mojo Monday!  I loved these card sketches and have been playing along with this blog for years now.  I truly love the challenge each week to create using a Mojo sketch and this week is no exception.  Here's what I came up with using this week's sketch layout.  It's a simple Hello card!  What I love most about it is the Tag a Bag Accessories I used to create this!

Stampin' Essentials Tips:
  • I used the Tag a Bag Accessory Kit by Stampin' Up! as quick and easy elements for my card!  The kit comes with 10 Large Base tags and I used the Tangerine Tango one on my card as well as the Bermuda Bay Builder Tag
  • My Hello sentiment is from the June My Paper Pumpkin Card Kit.  The full image says 'Hello to You' but I inked up just the Hello using my Coastal Cabana ink pad!
  • The Open Sea stamp set isn't just for masculine cards.  I used the old map background image and stamped it on the Calypso Coral 2-1/2" Circle for a fun accent rather than just a plain old circle!

Stampin' Supply List:

Stamps:  The Open Sea (123032), Hello is from the June My Paper Pumpkin Kit
Ink:  Calypso Coral (126983), Coastal Cabana (131175)
Card Stock:  Whisper White (100730), Calypso Coral (122925)
Paper:  This and That Epic Day DSP (130814)

1,600 Birthday Cards for Jacob Mockbee

Giving cards is what we do as paper crafters and I love it!  I heard about this special story through my friend and fellow Stampin' Up! Demonstrator in Arizona.  Parents of Jacob Mockbee are hoping to collect 1,600 cards for Jacob's 16th birthday this Sunday, June 16th.  Doctors told them he wouldn't live past a year, and here he is 16 years later!  To celebrate, we're sending him birthday cards, his wish for his birthday is to get 1,600 cards.  Please feel free to participate and send him a card.  I know Jacob and the family will love it!

Stories like this always make me cry and want to help.  Miracles happen all the time and it's special to be able to be a part of making someone's dream come true!  Here's the card I created for Jacob's 16th Birthday and will pop this in the mail ASAP!  I used the Mojo Monday 297 Sketch and it was the perfect inspiration to jump start my crafting!

Stampin' Essentials Tips:
  • Paper Snips!  Essential for trimming out both pairs of spectacles!  After stamping them in Midnight Muse and Summer Starfruit, I quickly trimmed them out and adhered them with Stampin' Dimensionals!
  • The Happy Birthday Photopolymer stamp is the image that comes in the Dolled-Up Birthday card kit!  It coordinates perfectly with the Spec-Tacular stamp.

  • My Scallop border is from the Petite Curly Label Punch!  I punched several out of the Summer Starfruit card stock, cut them in half and adhered them to the bottom of the Midnight Muse card stock!

Love sunglasses and spectacles!?!  Perfect for summer, this Spec-Tacular single stamp by Stampin' Up! is certainly a must have!  Available through July 31st in my online store, its a steal of a deal at $7.95.  Clear-Mount only.  Item number to add to your shopping cart:  132673

Masculine Birthday card with a MOJO Monday Sketch

My dad's birthday is at the end of June and so I made this card for him.  We live on the ocean here in Anacortes, WA and he loves boats, shrimping, crabbing, and fishing so I think he'll like the images on this card!  The layout is based upon this week's MOJO 296 Sketch.  It was the perfect inspiration for what I needed to help me create this card.  The circles in the card layout coincided excellently with the images in The Open Sea stamp set.

Stampin' Essentials Tips:
  • I stamped the ship in Midnight Muse ink on Whisper White card stock, then punched it out with the 2-1/2" Circle Punch
  • The anchor image was randomly stamped repeatedly in Crumb Cake ink below the ship.  I tied Linen Thread around the side of that strip of card stock rather than the three brads like the layout had.

  • The By The Tide Stamp set has this cute Nantucket Oceanside Inn image with the anchor and I just love it.  Especially because there is a Nantucket Inn here in Anacortes, WA where we live!  It perfectly coordinates and fits with the 1" Circle Punch.  It's stamped in Midnight Muse ink on Very Vanilla card stock.

Stamps:  The Open Sea (123032), By the Tide (129120)
Ink:  Midnight Muse (126860), Crumb Cake (126975)
Paper:  Midnight Muse (126843), Marina Mist (119682), Crumb Cake (120953), Whisper White (100730), Very Vanilla (115318)
Tools:  2-1/2" Circle Punch (120906), 1" Circle Punch (119868)
Embellishments:  Linen Thread (104199)
Finished Size:  4-1/4" x 5-1/2"

Stampin' Royalty Color Challenge #40

Happy Wednesday to you! We have a color challenge for you this week at the Stampin' Royalty! Feel free to play along with us and use the following Stampin' Up! colors, Chocolate Chip, Concord Crush, Tempting Turquoise, and So Saffron! Here's what I came up with:

My card layout is based upon this week's Clean and Simple Stamping sketch! This layout is perfect since it's doesn't contain a lot of elements! The main center panel can be anything you want! A large stamped image, pretty designer series paper, or make your own background with stamps! I chose a Tempting Turquoise polka dot patterned piece of DSP that retired from the Island Oasis DSP pack in the Summer Mini Catalog! Sometimes my older Stampin' Up! supplies are just perfect for the project I'm working on! The 'Praying for you' sentiment is from the Thoughts & Prayers stamp set and is stamped in Concord Crush Ink.

Stampin' Royalty Sketch Challenge #39

Good Morning! I have some exciting news to share! I've been asked to join the Stampin' Royalty Design Team!!! What an honor! I've been playing along with the challenges from this fabulous group of Canadian Stampin' Up! Demonstrators for awhile and now I get to join their team!
This week we're hosting a sketch challenge (which is actually my favorite type of challenge) so I gladly got my stamps out and here's what I created:
Stampin' Essentials Tips:
  • So I don't have and oval die or cutter to go along with the sketch, so I had to improvise! I simply cut and layered cardstock into a rectangle and rounded one corner to help frame in my Hydrangea image from the Level 1 Hostess set, Because I Care!
  • Hopefully you can tell from the close up picture below, but to add some dimension to the Hydrangea, I stamped the image a second time, and trimmed out a few small clusters of flowers and adhered them to my first image using Stampin' Dimensionals! You can also use a small flower punch too - since the flowers don't need to be perfect! They blend in really well with the larger image once layered together!
  • My color scheme was inspired by the Stampin' Up! Greenhouse Gala DSP papers! I chose to use Baja Breeze, Cherry Cobler, Old Olive, Whisper White and Early Espresso! The Stampin' Up! DSP packs are instant color inspiration if you're ever in a jam!

Colour Q #52 with Stampin' Up! Owl Punch (118074)

Happy Tuesday!!! We have an exciting twist to the Colour Q challenge this week! But first, Congratulations to our fabulous host Arielle!!! We've reach 52 challenges and celebrating 1 year of the Colour Q! I just love this weekly color challenge and I'm so honored to be part of the Design Team! I hope you'll have time this week to join us and play along with the challenge this week and use the sketch + your favorite past Colour Q combo! Here's what I came up with!

I chose to use a recent color combination of some of my favorite Stampin' Up! colors, which includes Soft Suede, Night of Navy, Pacific Point, Marina Mist, and Whisper White! These colors go along perfectly with the NEW Stampin' Up! Elegant Soiree DSP. I punched out some of Mr. Owl's eyes in the swirl patterned paper and used it since I thought it made him look kinda sick - and since this is a Get Well Card....I hope it works together! LOL! I pretty much always use the Woodgrain Background stamp with the Two-Step Owl Punch - they just go so perfectly together! I stamped the Soft Suede square piece of cardstock and double layered it with another piece of Soft Suede cardstock. Then layered the scallop circle on top with Stampin' Dimensionals!
