OCCC - Vintage Style: Miss You Card

Our Creative Corner posted a great challenge: Vintage Style! I had fun creating this card with a vintage flair using old postage stamp paper, button, stamps and distressing paper! I pulled out some of my favorite retired Stampin' Up! stamp sets and incorporated those in the vintage feel! One of my favorite sets was the Aged to Perfection set which I received at the Stampin' Up! Convention in 2005!
I started the project by cutting a piece of Chocolate Chip card stock to 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" and stamping the Linen background stamp (Retired) on it in Chocolate Chip ink. Then I distressed the postage paper by spritzing it with water and crumpling it up in a ball, opening it and crumpling it up again! Then layered it with other pieces of distressed card stock. To cover the Chipboard bookplate with Chocolate Chip ink - I just pressed the ink pad on the chipboard several times - but just enough so that it wasn't covered completely with ink. Then I stamped the 'miss' from the All About U (Retired) stamp set in the center of the bookplate and the 'you' from the All Natural (Retired) set in the bottom right corner. The finishing touches were to stamp and cut out pieces from the Aged to Perfection set, adding scraps of ribbon and a vintage button!

Red & Pink ~ for my Grandma Edie

As promised from my post on October 31st I created a card with a Red & Pink color combination, which my Grandma Edie loves! So, I started out with die-cut butterflies cut from Pink Pirouette cardstock, then layered them on top of Real Red Cardstock! Using the 3/16" Corner Rounder punch on the Real Red Cardstock, I rounded the corners to coordinate with the roundness of the butterfly wings and stamped the Medallion Background Stamp in Real Red Ink on the cardstock. Then I added the sentiment - which is from the Chit Chat Rub-ons (pg. 177), which come in Chocolate Chip and Whisper White ~ I used the White. The Basic Black Card base helps to make the butterfly stand out a more - it's a bold look, which I like! The finishing touch was a layer of Raspberry Tart DSP! I also ran both layers of the butterfly through the Big Shot with the Backgrounds 1 Texturz Plate ~ dots are so fun! The Texturz Plates are a fantastic way to add texture and dimension to your die-cut images!
