Stampin' Up! Catalog Inspired Card!

My Paper Pumpkin!  It's the way to go if you love getting crafting kits in the mail!  Today, June 10th is the day to sign-up by if you want to receive this month's kit!  It'll ship directly to you from Stampin' Up! and will arrive around the 18th or 19th of each month.  I highly recommend it and encourage you to subscribe!  The kits so far have been incredible and I LOVE getting the fun surprise in the mail each month!  You can CLICK HERE to start subscribing to the My Paper Pumpkin monthly kit!  You can always unsubscribe or skip a month if you need to!  It's really a flexible, zero risk, super fun way to get exciting, new craft supplies sent directly to you each month!  Okay....on to today's card!

My friend Desiree lives in Idaho and hosts a card swap every few years and this year she rallied 15 gals to participate!  I wanted to share with you the cards I made for the swap.  Some of the supplies are retired Stampin' Up! products, but some you can still purchase!  I'll add a supply list with item numbers at the bottom of this post so you can add them to your shopping cart when you're shopping in my online store!

Stampin' Essentials tips:
  • My color inspiration was from Stampin' Up! DSP.  Always an instant color palette to work with!  I used the colors:  Crumb Cake, Island Indigo, Summer Starfruit, Tangerine Tango, and Pool Party.
  • Texture goes a long way!  I embossed the center panel for some dimension and really like how the Island Indigo card stock looks against the Crumb Cake card base!  Since the card is blank, it could be a masculine card too!

  • My card layout was inspired by the card on page 21 of the 2013-2014 Catalog!  Want a copy of the catalog?  Place your Stampin' Up! orders thru me and one will automatically be sent to you!  Want to look first then buy?  EMAIL ME and I'll mail you a Catalog to browse through!  You WILL love it!
  • Minimal stamping!  Sometimes its fun to paper craft without doing a ton of stamping!  I stamped the scallop circle underneath the button using an image from the A Round Array stamp set.  It coordinates perfectly with the 7/8" Scallop Circle Punch!

Supply List:
Stamps:  A Round Array Clear-Mount Stamp Set (129090)
Ink:  Island Indigo (126986)

DIY Friday: A Wall Gallery Inspired Card

My local library has a free magazine rack in the lobby, which I frequently browse through for great magazines.  Love living in a small town.  So I recently found this Better Homes & Gardens Special Edition DIY issue that had this incredibly beautiful wall gallery that inspired my cards I made for today.
Here is the wall gallery photo from the magazine with the monochromatic blues and cool frames!  They used wallpaper and DSP scraps to create this.  Collected inexpensive wood frames and paint white, or whatever color fits your room.  This was such a great idea, I immediately grabbed my Stampin' Up! supplies and went to work!  Here is the card I created:

Of course I wanted to stick with the blue tones, so I chose Pool Party, Island Indigo, Midnight Muse and Whisper White.  The other thing that stuck out the most to me was the dark butterflies and scallop frames!  I used punches for those!  Hexagons are all the rage right now and I sniped one from the Epic Day This & That DSP (its on the top row, middle).  The half worked perfectly for the top edge!

Side by side photo of the magazine and my card.  It's fun using supplies in a collage pattern.  The K for Kindness stamp is from the A Round Array stamp set and I used the two butterfly punches Stampin' Up! sells:  Bitty Butterfly and Elegant Butterfly.  You can CLICK HERE to shop for those in my Online Store Now.

Stamps:  A Round Array (129090)
Ink:  Midnight Muse (126860)
Papers:  Print Poetry DSP (129312), Epic Day This & That DSP (130814), Island Indigo (122923), Midnight Muse (126843), Whisper White (100730)
Tools:  Elegant Butterfly Punch (127526), Decorative Label Punch (120907), 7/8" Scallop Circle Punch (129404), Bitty Butterfly Punch (129406), Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack (126187), Petite Curly Label (Available: 2013-2014 Catalog)
Embellishments:  Designer Printed Brads (122940), Large Rhinestones (129324)
Finished Size:  4-1/4" x 5-1/2"
Changed up the colors and made another card based upon the same layout!  Here are the two cards but totally different color palettes.  Which one do you like better?  Leave me a comment below with your preference!  I think I prefer the monochromatic blue one!  Don't you love the K is for Kindness (or Kari) stamp??? So fun!

The Print Poetry DSP in the Stampin' Up! Spring Catalog was my inspiration for this card.  My focus this whole week was to make projects using that DSP since it won't be available after May 31st.  You can CLICK HERE to start shopping for it in my online store.

Want to see my other projects using these papers?

Stamps:  A Round Array (129090)
Ink:  Midnight Muse (126860)
Papers:  Print Poetry DSP (129312), Gumball Green (126840), Summer Starfruit (126839), Crumb Cake (120953), Very Vanilla (101650)
Tools:  Elegant Butterfly Punch (127526), Decorative Label Punch (120907), 7/8" Scallop Circle Punch (129404), Bitty Butterfly Punch (129406), Petite Curly Label (Available 2013-2014 Catalog)

Thankful Thursday: A Blue Ribbon John Deere Tractor Card

It's Thankful Thursday so I wanted to share a card I made this week using the Stampin' Up! Harvest Blessings stamp set!  I call this my John Deere card since I stamped that tractor in Gumball Green -- close to the same shade as the John Deere logo!  The pennants reminded me of ribbons won at the country fair, so I incorporated those as an accent as well!
This card would work to give the men in our lives too.  With the Midnight Muse and Gumball Green with Crumb Cake it is a perfect masculine color combination.  I kept the stamping simple to focus on the detailing in the tractor image -- it's pretty amazing on it's own.
This is one of my favorite sets in the catalog and it will be featured in the upcoming 2013-2014 Catalog too!  Purchase it now, since it'll be around while!  My favorite image of course is the bible verse:  'The earth has yielded its fruits; and God has blessed us.'  Psalm 67:6

Stamps:  Harvest Blessings (126452), A Round Array (129090)
Ink:  Gumball Green (126861), Midnight Muse (126860)
Paper:  Print Poetry DSP (129312), Gumball Green (126840), Crumb Cake (120953), Very Vanilla (101650)
Tools:  Paper-Piercing Tool (126189), Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack (126187), 7/8" Scallop Circle Punch (129404)
Essentials:  Glue Dots (103683), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430)
Finished Size:  5-1/2" x 4-1/4"
I used the In Color Dahlias as an accent on my card!  The Gumball Green perfectly matches the colors used in the Print Poetry DSP.  These flowers are quickly becoming my favorite quick an easy accent.  They come in a package of 20 for $7.95 - Buy it Now

What are you Thankful for today?  Leave me a comment below, I'd love to hear what you're Thankful for this Thursday!

Stampin' Celebration Inspiration Challenge #22

Good Morning! Hope you are having a great week so far! We have another fun challenge for you at Stampin' Celebration Inspiration Challenge and I hope you'll have time this week to play along! I searched through my stash of stamp sets and I didn't have any bee stamps, so I improvised and went with a butterfly and coordinated my color scheme to that of the challenge! I used Early Espresso, Whisper White, Perfect Plum, and Peach Parfait! Here's what I came up with:
Stampin' Essentials Tips:

  • To achieve a honeycomb look, I used a patterned piece of DSP from the Elegant Soiree paper pack! It's a pretty color combination of Early Espresso and Soft Suede!
  • My butterfly is sitting on top of an Early Espresso punched Scallop Circle piece stamped with the circle pattern from the Apple Blossoms Hostess Level 2 Stamp Set. Then I pierced a hole in each scallop with the Paper-Piercing Tool! All of course adhered together with Stampin' Dimensionals for a 3D look!
  • The piece of Perfect Plum card stock with texture was run through the Big Shot with the Vintage Wallpaper Texture Folder! The top is tied with some 3/8" Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon in a bow!

Colour Q #52 with Stampin' Up! Owl Punch (118074)

Happy Tuesday!!! We have an exciting twist to the Colour Q challenge this week! But first, Congratulations to our fabulous host Arielle!!! We've reach 52 challenges and celebrating 1 year of the Colour Q! I just love this weekly color challenge and I'm so honored to be part of the Design Team! I hope you'll have time this week to join us and play along with the challenge this week and use the sketch + your favorite past Colour Q combo! Here's what I came up with!

I chose to use a recent color combination of some of my favorite Stampin' Up! colors, which includes Soft Suede, Night of Navy, Pacific Point, Marina Mist, and Whisper White! These colors go along perfectly with the NEW Stampin' Up! Elegant Soiree DSP. I punched out some of Mr. Owl's eyes in the swirl patterned paper and used it since I thought it made him look kinda sick - and since this is a Get Well Card....I hope it works together! LOL! I pretty much always use the Woodgrain Background stamp with the Two-Step Owl Punch - they just go so perfectly together! I stamped the Soft Suede square piece of cardstock and double layered it with another piece of Soft Suede cardstock. Then layered the scallop circle on top with Stampin' Dimensionals!

Good Morning! Welcome to another beautiful Colour Q challenge! This week we are working with the gorgeous Stampin' Up! color combination of Old Olive, Peach Parfait, So Saffron, Poppy Parade and Whisper White! Here's what I came up with:

My card layout is based up this weeks Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge! I just loved the overlapping panals and circles! I turned my sentiment into a tag wrapped with Linen Thread and tied around some Daffodil Delight 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon! I told you I use this ribbon ALL the time! I have 5 of the 13 colors it comes in and the remaining 8 colors are on my personal Wish List! Just a Little Note Card with Stampin' Up! Owl Punch

Happy Friday to you! Hope you had a wonderful week! I'm in love with the NEW Stampin' Up! Owl Punch, so I hope you don't mind if I post a lot of projects with him on my blog over the next few weeks! I love this Designer Series Paper that my friend Susan gave me, so I've been using it a lot on projects as well! It just reminds me of elementary school so much!!! Plus it PERFECTLY matches the Stampin' Up! NEW In Colors Pear Pizzazz and Peach Parfait as well as Riding Hood Red and Night of Navy!!!
So here's my latest card using the Owl Punch paired with the 2-3/8" Scallop Circle Punch, which is another favorite of mine!
Stampin' Essentials Tips:
  • The 'Just a Little Note' sentiment is from the Apple Blossoms Level 2 Hostess Set! You can earn this set for FREE by hosting a workshop or catalog party with sales of $300 or more! EMAIL ME if you'd like to get some friends together for a fun night of learning about Stampin' techniques and card making tips!
  • My favorite ribbon right now is the thiner ribbon! I really love the 1/8" Taffeta, but for today's card I used the Night of Navy 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon. The Stampin' Up! 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon comes in {13} Colors and each spool has 15 yards! Such a good deal for only $4.95 a spool.
  • I LOVE punches and there are {3} NEW punches featured in the Holiday Mini Catalog! Stampin' Celebration Inspiration Challenge #18

Good Morning! Welcome to another edition of the Stampin' Celebration Inspiration Challenge! These inspiration photos make me so homesick since my parents live on the ocean and frequently take the boat out to go crabbing! My mom said the freezer is full of crab so I can't wait to get up there and have some crab salads!!! They live about 5 hours away from me so I'm super excited to be able to head home soon for a visit! Here's what I came up with this week for the SCIC Desgin Team:

My card layout was inspired by the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge! I moved the flowers on my card to more of the top left corner and made the center circle using the 2-3/8" Scallop Circle Punch (118874)! Then I layered the Scallop Circle with the 1-3/4" Circle Punch (119850) and also created a 2" circle with the Circle Scissor Plus (112530).
I did use some retired stamp sets on my card! The crab is from the 'It's the Thought' Level 1 Hostess Stamp Set from the Summer Mini Catalog! It was too perfect for this challenge so I had to use it! The flowers were from the Tropical Party Stamp Set, which was also from the Summer Mini Catalog! They were both two of my favorites from the Mini Catalog! I first stamped the crab in Jet Black StazOn Ink, then colored him in with Cherry Cobbler Classic Ink and Blender Pens! The flowers I stamped in Daffodil Delight and Cherry Cobbler Classic Ink, then trimmed them out with the Paper Snips Scissors - a must have!!!
