Colour Q #56 with Stampin' Up! Owl Punch (118074)

Happy Tuesday! We have another festive color challenge for you at the Colour Q! This week the challenge uses the Stampin' Up! colors Rich Razzleberry, Pumpkin Pie, Certainly Celery, Garden Green, and Whiser White! Here's what I came up with based upon this week's challenge and inspiration photo:
Stampin' Essentials Tips:
  • I know, I know! I can't get enough of the Owl Punch! It's just too much fun! Don't you love how I gave him a Purple Heart (or rather a Rich Razzleberry Heart!?!). With the Two-Step Owl Punch you can create any color combination you want with any of the different pieces on the owl! So fun!
  • I think I would have liked this card MUCH better if I had the Pumpkin Pie 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon, but I don't have it so I improvised and used Basic Black instead! It's so hard for me not to buy EVERYTHING I want in the SU catalog!
  • That gorgeous floral patterned paper is from the Greenhouse Gala DSP pack! It's actually Pear Pizzazz and I think it's SO pretty! Pear Pizzazz is just a little bit darker than Certainly Celery - so I ended up swaping those out for my card and using the Pear Pizzazz instead!

The 'Thinking of You' sentiment is from the Trendy Trees stamp set and stamped in Rich Razzleberry ink on a Whisper White tag!

ColourQ #51 with Stampin' Up! Bird Punch (117191)

Good Morning! Welcome to another beautiful Colour Q challenge! This week we are working with the gorgeous Stampin' Up! color combination of Old Olive, Peach Parfait, So Saffron, Poppy Parade and Whisper White! Here's what I came up with:

My card layout is based up this weeks Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge! I just loved the overlapping panals and circles! I turned my sentiment into a tag wrapped with Linen Thread and tied around some Daffodil Delight 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon! I told you I use this ribbon ALL the time! I have 5 of the 13 colors it comes in and the remaining 8 colors are on my personal Wish List! If you'd like your own copy of a Wish List, CLICK HERE to email me and I'll send you a copy to download and print from home! This one is customized for the Stampin' Up! 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalog with page numbers and categories! It makes the best reference tool for finding products quickly and easily!

CQC #44 - Vintage Wallpaper Thinking of You

Happy Tuesday! We have another gorgeous color challenge for you at the Colour Q! This week we're challenging you to bust out that new Poppy Parade In Color, as well as, So Saffron, Bashful Blue, Basic Black, and Whisper White! Side note - I'm actually really in love with the dress in the inspiration photo! So cute and perfect for summer!
Stampin' Essentials Tips:
  • I chose to really show off the NEW Poppy Parade color and used it as my back drop for my card! Poppy Parade is featured on page 165 of the NEW IBC and is a 2010 In Color. With the huge color renovation Stampin' Up! did this year the In Colors will now be around for TWO years! This means that the 2010 set of {5} In Colors won't retire until 2012!
  • The Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder (item # 120175) adds a beautiful texture to my card! This one is probably my favorite of the {8} Folders Stampin' Up! offers on page 214 of the IBC. Each folder measures 4-1/2" x 5-3/4" and is perfectly sized for a standard card front. They sell for $7.95 and are worth the investment!!
  • Love buttons? Stampin' Up! has renovated their collection of Designer Buttons and they are better than ever! Check them out on page 186 of the IBC. Each Color Collection contains 72 buttons; 4 each of 3 designs in 6 colors! I prefer the 'shiny' look of buttons and now each design is shiny and the extra colors are incredible! Each package sells for $8.95 and yes, I bought all {4} containers available! LOL!!!
Stamps: Trendy Trees (113258)

Technique Spotlight: Rock N Roll

Happy Saturday to you! LOVE this sketch posted at the Pals Paper Arts blog! I played along and used a fun stamping technique called Rock & Roll!
I also incorporated the color challenge at the Color Dare blog! These great colors included: Crushed Curry, Brilliant Blue, Kraft, and I substituted Old Olive for Kiwi Kiss. These colors are very striking together and masculine too!

Stampin Essentials Tips:

I think the Rock & Roll technique works best with a bold stamp such as the one from the Upsy Daisy set, which I used for my card! Another tip for getting the best results for this technique is to use a light and dark color ink - stamping the lighter color first! Okay, so I first stamped the image in Crushed Curry ink. Then, I rolled (lightly) just the edges of my stamp in Old Olive ink so that the tips of the flowers and edges have a touch of Old Olive! It's like making a circle motion! So fun!!! Then I stamped my sentiment, from the Trendy Trees set (on page 112) in Old Olive ink and added some more Old Olive to the edges of the Whisper White card stock!

Thinking of You - OCCC

Love the Color Challenge Posted by the Our Creative Corner Stampers! The challenge was to create a project using the Stampin' Up! colors: Handsome Hunter, Blush Blossom, Sage Shadow, and Soft Suede! This was a wonderful challenge for me since I rarely stamp with Blush Blossom, and I do like how it looks layered on top of the Handsome Hunter card base! The Trendy Trees stamp set (pg. 112) is such a cute 2-Step Stampin' set! I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig (pg. 191) to get perfect placement for the trees! The Elegant Bouquet Textured Impressions Embossing folder (pg. 195) is quickly becoming my favorite tool for creating embossed backgrounds!
