School Days Congrats Owl for the Stampin' Royalty

I'm so honored to have been asked to be a guest designer this week for the Stampin' Royalty! I love those girls ~ they are all just so sweet! So thankful we have Stampin' Up! in common! I've played along with many of their fun challenges and have a Top Pick several times, which just makes my day! This week they have a theme challenge: School Days. I hope you'll be able to join us and enter their challenge! Here's what I came up with:

Stampin' Essentials Tips:
  • The 'Congrats' sentiment is from the Fundamental Phrases Stamp Set on page 157 (114968). This set comes with {24} adorable sentiments perfect for every occasion! I stamped the 'Congrats' in Old Olive ink on Whisper White Card Stock.
  • I love owls! They are all the rave right now in the paper crafting world and the Stampin' Up! It's the Thought Level 1 Hostess Set on page 4 of the Summer Mini Catalog is so cute! The sentiment I thought was perfect for back to school themed projects since his little glasses remind me of a professor and the sentiment '...a little wiser' are perfect for back to school and learning!
  • I chose to use the Stampin' Up! colors Riding Hood Red, Baja Breeze, Old Olive, and Night of Navy. Perfect primary school colors! If you haven't already purchased the RetroFit Color Kits to update your Stampin' Up! color collection, you can CLICK HERE to download the PDF and view the different kits for Markers, Ink Pads, and Card Stock! These are a great way to purchase just the NEW colors your need!
  • To add to the School Days theme, I stapled the 'Congrats' sentiment! I rarely staple on my projects - so I really hoped it would be in the right place the first time! Measure twice, staple once!!! To place an Order for Stampin' Up! On-Line 24/7, CLICK HERE!

Stampin' Celebration Inspiration Challenge #8

It's another adorable Stampin' Celebration Inspiration Challenge! We have a super fun challenge for you that's just perfect for pink and flowers! When I saw these photos, I immediatley thought of the Fancy Flower Punch and had to use that on my project for this challenge! Hopefully you'll be inspired and join us this week! We'd love to see your creations! Here's what I came up with - a card and Matchbox filled with Hershey's Nuggets!

Just a Little Note Card

Stampin' Essentials Tips:

  • My card was based upon this week's Mojo Monday sketch! I really like the cattywampus (such a fun word!!!) square panals on this card! I used 3-1/4" squares and layered 3-1/8" squares on top!
  • The 'Just a Little Note' sentiment is a SNEAK PEEK to the NEW Apple Blossoms Hostess Level 2 stamp set that will be in the new 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalog! It's adorable set exclusive to Hostesses or those that place an order of $300 or more! As demonstrators, we got to pre-order a Level 1 and Level 2 stamp sets from the the new IBC. One of the many benefits of being a SU Demonstrator!
  • Love felt? The Flower Fusion felt flowers (110720) were a super addition to my flower centers! These cuties are on the LAST CHANCE ACCESSORIES List! I strongly suggest stocking up on your favorite supplies on that list before they are gone for good!

The Matchbox below is in my June 2010 Card Kit #2! You get all the supplies to create your own plus my inspiration sample!

Many of you have asked about my June Card Kit and I've sold out of Kit #1 and only have {1} Kit #2 left! You can click here check out this awesome Card/Scrapbooking Kit designed and created by me! Good Luck Gable Box with LAST CHANCE Goodies

Click here for the most up to date (as of today, 6/7/10) Stampin' Up! LAST CHANCE ACCESSORIES LIST. This list is updated daily and many, MANY of our favorite accessories are selling out quickly! I have a few to show you today that I used on my 'Good Luck' Gable Box!
I love making boxes! It's kind a new thing for me! Cards are so fun - but boxes are just too fun! Beate of Splitcoast Stampers has a fantastic tutorial on how to create a Gable Box out of {1} sheet of 8-1/2" x 11" card stock! There's hardly any cutting and assembling this is SO easy!
My colors for my box were inspired by the Inkspirations Colour challenge to use: Kraft, Real Red, Basic Gray, Whisper White, (and I threw in a little Basic Black!!!).
The Pink Elephant also had a challenge to use the color Red, Scallops, and a Bow! Here's what I did for that challenge:
  • The bottom edge of the belly band of DSP around my box is punched using the Eyelet Border Scallop Punch.
  • My bow at the top of my box holds my box together.
  • The color Red is showcased on my ribbon, tag with sentiment stamped in Real Red ink and die-cut daisy flower!
Stampin' Essentials Tips:
  • Looking for some Basic Gray DSP?? Look no further than the Noevea Chic DSP pack! I used a sheet from this LAST CHANCE PAPER pack as my belly band for my box! This pack of paper is 'While Supplies Last' and will soon be retiring!
  • My bow is tied with the Real Red 3/4" Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon! Another great accessory on the LAST CHANCE RIBBON LIST! As of today it's still available for purchase at a 50% Discount! This spool of ribbon contains 10 yards and is on sale for $4.48.
  • My Daisy centerpiece showcases a favorite of mine, the Basic Gray Corduroy Brads! These are on the LAST CHANCE ACCESSORY LIST and are also on sale for a 50% Discount. The package of brads and buttons contains 24 pieces and you can order it now for $4.98.

Stampin' Celebration Inspiration Challenge #5

I love this weeks Stampin' Celebration Inspirational Challenge! The colors were just so great! I focused on using Tempting Turquoise, Basic Gray, Whisper White, and Basic Black in the ensemble I have to share with you! Since it's Graduation season - I focused my projects around celebrating our graduates!

Starbucks gift card holder (card and/or $$ tucked inside). Wrapped the card with Whisper White Satin Ribbon to keep it closed rather than add adhesive or something for an enclosure! The tag was die-cut using the Big Shot and the Lots of Tags 4-Pack of dies!

Inspired by the Bag w/ Scallops die, I didn't have the die, so I created my own! Inside is a little cellophane bag filled with die-cut and punched out images! A perfect hostess or graduation gift! The stamped flower image I used is from the Embrace Life stamp set, which is on the Last Chance List of stamps that will no longer be available after June 30th!

Happy Graduation card! My pennants were made with the Scallop Square punch, then I trimmed them into 'triangles' with my Paper Snips! The die-cut 'grad' letters were cut with the Billboard Decorative Strip Die out of Whisper White Textured card stock! CLICK HERE for a quick Tutorial on how I made this card!

Congrats featuring Mr. Owl for the SSSC

Before I get going on today's card and info I wanted to share a Stampin' Up! product update with you all - it's kinda a big one! The Sweet Pea DSP Stack (117161) and Sweet Pea Stitched Felt (117266) are no longer available! Stampin' Up! has depleted their inventory so these products are unavailable for purchase from the Occasions Mini Catalog! Sorry if you're bummed - my card does feature some of that amazing and VERY popular Sweet Pea DSP Stack!

Okay, here's my card for this Wonderful Wednesday in April! I think Karen's sketches each week are just dreamy! They are so fun and versatile it just makes me happy. Plus they usually incorporate circles, so I have to bust out my Circle Scissor, which is always good times!!! Today I used the Scallop Circle dies #2 and cut that out of Chocolate Chip card stock. Then a circle was cut out of Baja Breeze (so happy it's coming back) to 2-7/8"! Then my Whisper White Circle is 2-5/8"!

Stampin' Essentials Tips:
  • I stamped my owl from the Fox and Friends stamp set in Chocolate Chip Craft Ink. I rarely used Craft ink since it takes forever to dry - but my Classic Chocolate Chip doesn't quite cover the image like I wanted it to! Also, ALL THE CRAFT INK PADS will be retiring this June! In the next catalog there will only be the Craft re-inkers for scrapbooking and coloring Chipboard!
  • The branch my owl is 'perched' on is from the Two-Step Bird punch and is punched from Certainly Celery card stock!
  • I used a couple of strips of the Sweet Pea DSP and So Saffron card stock from my three strips along the left side of my card to follow the layout!!! They are different lengths and widths by the way!
  • A little texture adds a lot to projects and is one of my favorite, 'subtle' ways to dress up my cards! Polka Dots are just too COOL!

Stamps: Fox & Friends (118565 - Clear Mount), Fundamental Phrases (114968)
Ink: Chocolate Chip Craft ink (101816), Taken with Teal (103257)
Card Stock: Baja Breeze (available July 1st in the 2010-2011 IBC), Whisper White (100730), Old Olive (100702), So Saffron (105118)
Paper: Sweet Pea DSP Stack (no longer available from the Occasions Mini Catalog)
Embellishments: Playground Buttons (116313), Linen Thread (104199)
Punches: Two-Step Bird Punch (117191)
Tools: Big Shot (113439), Perfect Polka Dots (117335), Circle Scissor Plus (112530), Glass Mat (112531)
Finished Size: 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" (A2)
I definitely don't make enough masculine cards - so I hope this card had a manly feel to it!!! It'd work great for a graduation card too!
Hope you enjoy your day and stamp something fun!

PPA16 ~ Theme Challenge: Christmas Cheer

The Pals Paper Arts posted a very festive and fun theme challenge: Christmas Cheer! I thought creating a tag, gift box, and mini card would be a great way to celebrate the Christmas season in style!!
My 3" square card was made using Garden Green card stock as the card base, cut to 6" long x 3" wide, scored, and folded in half to create the 3" square card! Then I cut a 2-3/4" square piece of paper from the Merry Moments DSP (pg. 160). Using my Big Shot Die-Cut machine and the Lots of Tags die (pg. 197) I cut out the scallop tag and stamped 'merry & bright' in Chocolate Chip Classic ink using the Merriment stamp (pg. 208). Then I added a red button and Chocolate Chip 1/4" Grosgrain ribbon to embellish and a little dove in the bottom corner cut from the Merry Details die! Tip: Just for fun, I lined up his eye over one of the dots in the paper and glued him down, so it looks like he has a little eyeball!
Click here to Shop online now!
Stamps: Fundamental Phrases (114968)
Ink: Chocolate Chip (100908)
Card stock: Garden Green (102584), Very Vanilla (101650)
Accessories: Playground Designer Buttons (116313), Chocolate Chip 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon(111367)
Tools: Big Shot (113439), Lots of Tags (114508)
Essentials: Mini Square Envelopes (107309), Mini Glue Dots (103683, for adhering my button)
My 'merry' tag was cut out of Real Red card stock using the Merry Embosslits folder from the Holiday Mini Catalog. Then I cut out some Christmas trees in Old Olive and Very Vanilla card stock using the Merry Details Sizzlits die and layered them on the tag. After the tag is cut out, there is a hole at the top which is perfect for tying my Very Vanilla 1/4" Grosgrain ribbon through!

Card stock: Real Red (103133), Old Olive (100702), Very Vanilla (101650)
Accessories: Very Vanilla 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon (109026)
Tools: Big Shot Die-Cut Machine (113439), Merry Embosslits Folder (116820)
My gift box is cut out of Old Olive card stock and it's super quick and easy to make! Add the perfect touch to give as a gift by adding some candy or small gift inside the box!
Here's how you make it:
1) Score an 8-1/2" piece of card stock vertically at 2", 4", 6", and 8". Then, score horizontally at 2" from the bottom edge. Cut to horizontal scored line along vertical scored lines. Cut off 1/2" x 2" notch at end of card stock to make folding easier.
2) Decorate front of box. This is typically the section between the 6" and 8" scored lines. I added a piece of Merry Moments DSP to mine!
3) Fold box, and adhere using Sticky Strip.
Tip: Your card stock should be 8-1/2" wide, but you can use any height - since this will determine how tall your box is! Mine is about 4" tall!

HAPPY Halloween

It's Tuesday - so how about a fun Technique!?! I love learning new tricks for my punches and this one I learned about in my November issue of Creating Keepsakes (pg. 35). Useing my 1-1/4" square punch, I punched out several pieces of Autumn Traditions Designer Series Paper. Then I used my corner rounder punch to round the corners of opposite sides of the square, creating a fun background on my card!
