CQC #46 Hello Baby Card with Fox and Friends

Happy Tuesday to you! Thanks for joining me today! I just love the color combination this week at the Colour Q! It features several of my favorite Stampin' Up! colors: Cherry Cobbler, Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi, Baja Breeze and Very Vanilla! Isn't that little dress in the photo just adorable!?! With these colors, I inspired to make a little baby card! Here's what I came up with!

Stampin' Essentials Tips:
  • My card layout is based upon this weeks Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge! This was such a great layout since it features three panels and circles - which worked perfectly for my baby card and the different animals!
  • The stamped images are from the Fox & Friends Stamp Set on page 96 of the Stampin' Up! Idea Book & Catalog. This set features 7 adorable animals, and I chose to use the monkey (Cherry Cobbler), lion (Daffodil Delight), and turtle (Wild Wasabi).
  • The scallop circles layered behind the stamped images isn't one of our Scallop Circle punches, it's actually from the Scallop Circles #2 die (113469) - the smaller of the two Scallop Circles. I chose to use the die-cut Scallop Circle since it was just the perfect size to layer with the 1-3/4" Circle Punch (119850), since I just wanted the scallops to show behind the circle. Plus it fit perfectly with this card size - 3-1/4" x 6-1/2", scored at the top! Here's some additional pictures:

CQC #41 Watercolor Trio Happy Birthday Card

It's another fun and girly color challenge at the Colour Q! For this challenge of Basic Black, Whisper White, Basic Gray, Pretty in Pink and I swaped out Pink Passion since it's retired - and used Melon Mambo, which is very close! My card layout is based upon the fantastic sketch at Clean & Simple Stamping! I hope you have time this week to join us at the CQC - we'd love to have you stamp with us!

Stampin' Essentials Tips:

  • New Ribbon! One of my favorite things in the NEW Stampin' Up! Idea Book & Catalog is the 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon, which comes in {13} colors! I used the Basic Black ribbon and with the white trimmed edges, it doesn't get 'lost' against my Basic Black card base!
  • My 'Happy Birthday' sentiment is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set on page 157 of the IBC. It comes in a set of 24 stamps, with a greeting for every Occasion! What I love the most about this set is that almost every greeting fit perfectly inside the Word Window Punch, which can be layered with the Modern Label Punch as well!
  • The Watercolor Trio stamp set is one of my favorites from the Summer Mini Catalog! You can get this set in either Wood Mount or Clear Mount and it will only be available for purchase until August 31st!

Simply Sweet Saturday: Cards for Emily B.

Update: Only {1) June Card Kit left! CLICK HERE for details! Email me to purchase - $29.95 + $4.95 Shipping/Handling (US Only).

So I have the cutest story to share with you! I made these sweet, simple cards for little Emily, the daughter of one of the Pastors I work with! He brought her to the office last Thursday and she hung out with me and my co-worker Haley for awhile! We watered plants, colored and ate Fruit by the Foot! So while we were at our desks coloring, Emily saw a note I had given Haley (a 3x3 notecard) and wanted to give one to her mom! So I told Emily I'd make her one and she wanted it to be a Red Daisy and say 'Happy Mother's Day' so she could give to her mom! She also wanted me to make her a pink butterfly card for herself!
So these are the cards I made for Emily! Then the story gets cuter! When I walked back into my office, Emily tells Haley, "Kari is pretty like a mermaid! If she dressed up like a Mermaid for Halloween, I bet she'd get lots of candy!!!" hahaha! Isn't that adorable!?! Made my day! Maybe I should be a Mermaid for Halloween this year!

Just for You card for Emily with Pink Butterflies

Tutorial: Tool Box for Dad on Father's Day

Happy Father's Day Weekend to you! I have a special Father's Day project to share with you today that I hope you'll enjoy! Looking to purchase the supplies I use to create my projects? You can always place a Stampin' Up! order On-Line 24/7, for all the Stampin' Up! products I showcase on my blog!
My project today was inspired by the color challenge at The Playdate Cafe to use Black, White, and BLUE! I chose to use Pacific Point for my shade blue! The Stampin' Royalty girls hosted a challenge to create a Masculine Themed Project and this one is for Dad!

Here's what I came up with, a Tool Box for Dad made from the Stampin' Up! Box #2 die!
Side view

Back view

Here's how you make it:
1) Die-Cut {2} Boxes using the Box #2 die out of 12" x 12" Basic Black card stock! Using your Paper Snips, trim off the small side panels, so the boxes are left looking like this:

2) Assemble boxes using sticky strip. Hint: I use sticky strip on just the one side tab (pictured below). These boxes hold together really well! You can add more if you want, but I found this small strip is enough!

3) Using the Wide Oval Punch, punch the 'handles' close to the top of the box. I punched out one box first, then lined it up with the other box so that the handles were lined up.

4) Once boxes are assembled, use sticky strip to adhere them back to back. This will create the tool box!

5) Decorate as you wish! These boxes fit the Hershey nuggets perfectly - about three layers deep! I decorated the top row only. Using the 1/2" Circle punch, I punched out Pacific Point card stock circles to look like 'screws or bolts'!! I chose to put the candies on each side of the box along with a Starbucks gift card! But you can fill each side with a bunch of different goodies and change up the theme for whatever occasion you're celebrating!

Pennant Tutorial using Scallop Square Punch

Happy Thursday to you! As promised from my post earlier today, I wanted to quickly share a Tutorial with you on how I created the Grad Pennants on my Happy Graduation card! This card was part of my ensemble I created for the Stampin' Celebration Inspirational Challenge this week! I loosely followed along with this weeks Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge as well! I flipped the sketch and left off the row of 3 brads on each side since I thought I had too many brads in my banner, but also I ran out of room!!!
Here's how you make the Pennants using the Scallop Square Punch:
1) Start by punching out a scallop square using the Scallop Square punch from Temping Turquoise card stock!

2) Then taking your Paper Snips, from the bottom middle scallop, cut an angle to the top right corner!
3) Then from that same center point, cut an angle to the top left corner!

4) Stamp the Polka Dot stamp from the For All You Do stamp set in Tempting Turquoise ink on the pennant and add the letters you wish to use for your card. The top scallop corners layer perfectly on top of each other so you can arch your banner as little or as much as you want! I added Black Brads on the right and left of each triangle, but you can also use Ribbon or Linen Thread.

Pretty simple, but I hope that helps you see another way to use your punches! I was so inspired by the SCIC challenge this week so I hope you are too!

Stampin' Celebration Inspiration Challenge #5

I love this weeks Stampin' Celebration Inspirational Challenge! The colors were just so great! I focused on using Tempting Turquoise, Basic Gray, Whisper White, and Basic Black in the ensemble I have to share with you! Since it's Graduation season - I focused my projects around celebrating our graduates!

Starbucks gift card holder (card and/or $$ tucked inside). Wrapped the card with Whisper White Satin Ribbon to keep it closed rather than add adhesive or something for an enclosure! The tag was die-cut using the Big Shot and the Lots of Tags 4-Pack of dies!

Inspired by the Bag w/ Scallops die, I didn't have the die, so I created my own! Inside is a little cellophane bag filled with die-cut and punched out images! A perfect hostess or graduation gift! The stamped flower image I used is from the Embrace Life stamp set, which is on the Last Chance List of stamps that will no longer be available after June 30th!

Happy Graduation card! My pennants were made with the Scallop Square punch, then I trimmed them into 'triangles' with my Paper Snips! The die-cut 'grad' letters were cut with the Billboard Decorative Strip Die out of Whisper White Textured card stock! CLICK HERE for a quick Tutorial on how I made this card!

Get Well card for Brooke!

I made this bright and cheery card for my friend Brooke who has been super sick for over a week now! I sure do miss her smiley face, and pray that she gets better soon!

My card today is based upon the incredible color challenge at Stacey's Curtain Call! These colors include: Summer Sun, (Retiring), Apricot Appeal (Retiring), Rose Red, Regal Rose, and Whisper White! I was also inspired by the super cute square card sketch challenge at Inkspirations!

Stampin' Essentials Tips:
  • I made my card size 4-1/4" Square so that it can still fit inside a standard A2 envelope! Since I had some extra room to play with on the length - I put my butterfly a little 'off' the page! Looks like it's taking flight, uh!?! Just something different! =)
  • The Razzleberry Lemonade DSP is retiring this June! Check back to my Stampin' Essentials blog for all the details on what will be retiring! I used the Crushed Curry floral patterned paper for my background! It looks so much like Summer Sun to me! This is actually my favorite patterned paper from that pack!
  • My layered butterfly was cut from several different colors of card stock using the Beautiful Wings die! You can get {6} butterflies from this one die! All the edges were inked with their cooresponding ink using Sponge Daubers for a subtle inked look!

Scallop Edge Tutorial using Fancy Flower Punch

I love learning new techniques, don't you!?! I have a tutorial to share with you today using the Extra Large Fancy Flower Punch to create a scallop edge! The sketch at the Clean & Simple Stamping blog showcased a large scallop border on the layout, so to create this I pulled out the Stampin' Up! Extra Large Fancy Flower Punch. Here's how you turn a flower punch into a scallop edge:
Using the Fancy Flower Punch, punch out 2 flowers from Basic Black card stock.
Then taking your Paper Snips, trim off the petals - two at a time.
Grid Paper is the key to lining up the top of the petals side-by-side.
Then add adhesive to the card stock piece the scallops will be layered 'behind', and you're done!

Stampin' Essentials Tips:

  • The Fancy Flower Punch (118073) is one of the Occasion Mini Catalog items still available for purchase! It's $15.95 and so versatile - it's not just a flower punch!!
  • The large silver circle brad in the center of my flowers is a FREEBIE during the month of May! Purchase any qualifying stamp set or the My Digital Studio (118108) and earn a package of Designer Brads for FREE! Click here for more information!
  • NEW! The Square Lattice Embossing Folder (119976) from the Summer Mini Catalog added just the right touch of texture to my flower! For $7.95 this is a must have accessory to your Big Shot Die-Cut Machine.

Baby Shower Card For My Sweet Friend Amy V.

My sweet friend Amy is having her baby shower this Saturday so I made this card for her! They don't know what they're having yet (girl or boy) so I created this card with pink, green, brown, and yellow so it would be a 'neutral' card! Although it definitely looks more girly to me since I think they're having a girl! hahaha! My card layout is based upon Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch challenge! I made mine a square card since I needed more room to add an envelope which was the challenge at Everything But the Kitchen Sink! I really like how it turned out with the butterflies fluttering out of the envelope!
My envelope was die cut using the Stampin' Up! Scallop Envelope die! I cut it out of Chocolate Chip DSP and since it's double-sided paper, you can see both patterns since the envelope is left open! The 'for your shower' sentiment is stamped from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set!
The letters the spelt out 'baby' were cut out using my Big Shot and the Billboard alphabet die! The Beautiful Wings Embosslits die is still available for purchase from the Occasions Mini Catalog! This die will also be featured in the new Idea Book & Catalog which comes out July 1st!
Ink: Chocolate Chip (100908)
Card Stock: Pretty in Pink (100459), So Saffron (105118), Certainly Celery (105125), Chocolate Chip (102128), Whisper White (100730)

Embellishments: Pretty in Pink Corduroy Buttons (117681), Linen Thread (104199), Certainly Celery Ribbon (Retired), Filigree Brads (112577), Soft Subtles Brads (106954), Flower Assortment Brads (112583)
Punches: Boho Blossoms (110711)

Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!
