Welcome, Little One card for Melissa

My friend and Stampin' Up! downline, Melissa just had a baby girl this last Friday! I'm so happy for her, Congrats Melissa!!!! I made this card to send to her based upon the sketch challenge with a twist at the CC EE Stampers blog! We were to create a baby card with a button(s) using their great card sketch challenge as well! I also entered this card at the Stampin' for the Weekend blog, which had a challenge to make a card that would make someone smile! Here's what I came up with!

Stampin' Essentials Tips:
  • I used the Kiss Technique on the Elephant with Pretty in Pink and Chocolate Chip ink! For a Tutorial on how to create this look with two stamps, please CLICK HERE!
  • My button on my card is from the Chocolate Chip Corduroy Buttons package! You get 24 pieaces in a package, 8 each of three different buttons & brads for $9.95.
  • The Animal Stories stamp set (116716) is quickly becoming one of my favorite sets for creating baby cards! It contains 4 super sweet images for $15.95.

It's A Boy! Card for Colour Q Challenge #34

Hello Tuesday! Love Tuesdays because it's a new Colour Q Challenge! This week is a sweet combination of Certainly Celery, Ballet Blue (Retiring), Pumpkin Pie, Chocolate Chip, Kraft, and Whisper White! Perfect for a baby card, which I also made for the challenge at CC EE Stampers.
Here's what I came up with based upon the Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge! My card size is 4-1/4" square, which can still fit into a standard A2 envelope! Using my Big Shot, I die-cut the larger Scallop Circle from the Scallop Circles #2 die. The Paper Piercing Tool was used to punch holes in each scallop!

Stampin' Essentials Tips:

  • My sailboat was made using the 1-3/4" Circle Punch as the boat. The sails were first punched out with the 1-3/8" Square Punch and the 1-1/4" Square Punch, then cut into triangles!
  • Using the Polka Dot square stamp in the For All You Do stamp set, I stamped the polka dots in Chocolate Chip ink on the Chocolate Chip card stock for the boat!
  • The 'It's a Boy!' sentiment is from the Nursery Necessities stamp set and is stamped in Whisper White Craft ink!
  • Ballet Blue is retiring! It's part of the COLOR RENOVATION! Click here for more information! Some of our favorite colors have been selling out quickly!

KISS Technique and Mojo Monday Card Sketch

It's Monday and another wonderful sketch from the Mojo blog! For my card I made a baby card using the KISS technique for the elephant! I have more pictures and details below!

Stampin' Essentials Tips:

I was inspired by the patterns on the elephant in the Tall Tales DSP so I wanted to combine Chocolate Chip and Old Olive on the one image! The Kiss Technique is basically inking one stamp off of another! Here's how I did it:

1) I started by inking the elephant from the Animal Stories stamp set in Old Olive ink and set aside for a moment while I got the next stamp ready.

2) Then I stamped the Polka Dot patterned stamp from the For All You Do stamp set in Chocolate Chip ink

3) Then I stamped the Elephant on the Polka dot stamp (press firmly, straight down)

The end result is an Old Olive Elephant with Chocolate Chip Polka Dots! Then I stamped the Welcome, little one sentiment from the Nursery Necessities stamp set in Chocolate Chip ink below the Elephant!

Round or Square?

The Mojo Sketch gave us two options this week, round or square! I chose square, along with a fun new color challenge, Curtain Call Act 14! Oh boy, was this a challenge for me to use these colors together! They look so pretty together, but WOW it was a struggle for me, but I hope it turned out okay! It was about time I made a baby boy card! Girl cards just SEEM so much easier! Hehe!
Hopefully I'll have time this week to try the round layout as well! Scallop Circle die! Whoohoo! This was a fun sketch and I liked moving things around! I played with using flowers versus buttons, but landed on buttons! The boat from the Stampin' Up! Nursery Necessities set inspired me and I made my own with punches rather than stamping the image and cutting it out! My 'Boat' is made with the 1-3/4" Circle Punch (cut in half) and the 'Sails' are triangles I cut out after punching squares with the 1-3/8" Square Punch!

Stamps: Nursery Necessities (113506)
Ink: Bashful Blue (105209)

Rock-a-Bye Baby!

Happy Sunday to you! I played along with the Our Creative Corner blog and made this fun 'It's a Boy' card based upon their sketch below! I love the tab on this card layout! It's was perfect for my little sentiment! I also found a NEW site called No Time to Stamp and loved their challenge: SOMETHING NEW! This could be anything new and for me this meant new supplies that I haven't used yet and a couple new blog challenges! Here are all the new things for me: a NEW card sketch, a NEW blog challenge, a NEW paper pack: Stampin' Up!'s Tall Tales DSP, and a NEW stamp set: Stampin' Up!'s Nursery Necessities set!

The tree in my card is from the Branch Out stamp set! Although this set isn't featured in the Idea Book & Catalog, it's on the Dormant List! These great sets are retiring tomorrow so January 4th will be the last day to order them! I am actually SUPER bummed that the Branch Out set is retiring! It's a great Two-Step Stampin' set and so versatile! I loved how it coordinates with the Tall Tales DSP! But you can still order from this Dormant List, just click on the Shop Now link below!

Stampin' Essentials tips:

-Isn't this little lion so cute!?! I punched him out with the 1-3/8" circle punch and layered him on the So Saffron Scallop Circle so he could have some of the spot light!
-My tree leaves were first stamped in Certainly Celery ink, then Old Olive ink on top for some depth (darker first, lighter in the background)
-The Round Tab punch was perfect for the sentiment! After punching this out of Rose Red card stock, I cut it in half (so it wasn't so bulky) and tucked it behind the Brilliant Blue card stock!

Stamps: Branch Out (113200), Nursery Necessities (113506)
Ink: Chocolate Chip (100908), Brilliant Blue (100691), Old Olive (102277), Certainly Celery (105217)
Card Stock: So Saffron (105118), Brilliant Blue (100721), Chocolate Chip (102128), Whisper White (100730), Rose Red (102544)
Paper: Tall Tales (115678)
Embellishments: Chocolate Chip 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon (111367)
Punches: Scallop Circle (109043), 1-3/8" Circle (104401), Round Tab (108340)
Finished Size: 4-1/4" x 5-1/2"
Here's what's coming tomorrow: Another great card sketch & a hint: Valentine's Day CANDY!!!
Have a blessed Sunday,
~Kari
