DIY Friday: A Wall Gallery Inspired Card

My local library has a free magazine rack in the lobby, which I frequently browse through for great magazines.  Love living in a small town.  So I recently found this Better Homes & Gardens Special Edition DIY issue that had this incredibly beautiful wall gallery that inspired my cards I made for today.
Here is the wall gallery photo from the magazine with the monochromatic blues and cool frames!  They used wallpaper and DSP scraps to create this.  Collected inexpensive wood frames and paint white, or whatever color fits your room.  This was such a great idea, I immediately grabbed my Stampin' Up! supplies and went to work!  Here is the card I created:

Of course I wanted to stick with the blue tones, so I chose Pool Party, Island Indigo, Midnight Muse and Whisper White.  The other thing that stuck out the most to me was the dark butterflies and scallop frames!  I used punches for those!  Hexagons are all the rage right now and I sniped one from the Epic Day This & That DSP (its on the top row, middle).  The half worked perfectly for the top edge!

Side by side photo of the magazine and my card.  It's fun using supplies in a collage pattern.  The K for Kindness stamp is from the A Round Array stamp set and I used the two butterfly punches Stampin' Up! sells:  Bitty Butterfly and Elegant Butterfly.  You can CLICK HERE to shop for those in my Online Store Now.

Changed up the colors and made another card based upon the same layout!  Here are the two cards but totally different color palettes.  Which one do you like better?  Leave me a comment below with your preference!  I think I prefer the monochromatic blue one!  Don't you love the K is for Kindness (or Kari) stamp??? So fun!

The Print Poetry DSP in the Stampin' Up! Spring Catalog was my inspiration for this card.  My focus this whole week was to make projects using that DSP since it won't be available after May 31st.  You can CLICK HERE to start shopping for it in my online store.
