Improved Basic Black Stampin' Up! Ink Pad NOW Available

Black ink pads got a facelift!  Oh yes, the Stampin' Up! Basic Black ink pads went through some new improvements to make them better than ever!  Stampin' Up! shared with us the latest information regarding the changes and I wanted to pass them along to you!  Since we ALL stamp in black ink!

In a nutshell, the Black ink pads we have for sale now are the BEST.  Truly awesome.  With the change  from the former Stampin' Up! ink pads to the Firm Foam pads, it's been truly an awesome improvement!  My personal tip with Basic Black:  It does take a bit longer to dry but the results are worth the wait!

Here's the details:
April 2013~

After months of testing and working with their vendor, Stampin' Up! is ready to provide us with a status report!

What's changed?
Stampin' Up! has accepted a formula with their supplier that shows improvement. The new formula has a reduced dye concentration that will allow it to better absorb into the cardstock. Reducing the concentration didn't change the rich black color we all know and love; it only affects how the cardstock takes the ink.

What about drying time?
Because the ink absorbs better into the cardstock, it will dry in under a minute in some cases. It can take longer depending on the run of your cardstock and the age of your ink pad. If you are using an old ink pad, one of the refills with the improved formula will rejuvenate your pad.
Tip:  Also keep in mind that larger stamps or a more solid image may require a longer drying time.

What's the deal with Whisper White Cardstock?
Stampin' Up! initially discovered that their specification tolerance is too broad, meaning that there is a broad variance in ink absorption and drying time. The Stampin' Up! Whisper White Cardstock is not a custom cardstock for Stampin' Up! like their other cardstock colors, so Stampin' Up! doesn't have control over its tolerance. Stampin' Up! has since requested that their supplier provide them with cardstock within a tighter range of tolerance. Still, their tests proved that the new ink formula works better on most, not all, of our Whisper White Cardstock. The performance of the ink depends on the run of the cardstock. It is not possible to tell when a packet of Whisper White Cardstock was produced. If you are concerned with the quality of your cardstock, we recommend using StazOn ink, instead of Basic Black.

What if I need to exchange or return my Basic Black Classic Stampin' Pad?
If you have experienced problems with your Basic Black Classic Stampin' Pad, please contact me and I'll get in touch with Stampin' Up! for you. Please have your ink pad in hand since it will will help Stampin' Up! know how to best help you.

When can I get my hands on the improved Basic Black ink?
The improved Basic Black ink pad and refill are currently being sold. Surprise! Remember, depending on the Whisper White Cardstock you are using, you may still experience smearing and high drying times. We recommend that you use StazOn instead of the Basic Black Classic ink pad if you are experiencing this with your current ink pad!

Happy Results!
Stampin' Up! is pleased with these results so far. Not only has the Basic Black ink formula improved, but the testing process has also shown Stampin' Up! how to make improvements to the quality of their Whisper White Cardstock. We as customers will continue to see improvement in the future in these amazing products we use.

If you have purchased Stampin' Up! ink pads lately you may have noticed some changes!  On the bottom there are now stickers to label your ink pads with the coordinating name of the color!  These are in {4} different languages and you can choose what suites you best!  Or use two and label each end of your ink pad AND learn a new language at the same time!  Genius!!!  The new foam ink pads are just really amazing!  I think they are an incredible improvement and I'm thoroughly impressed with them!  The best part about them is they are totally FLAT ___  no dip in the middle!  The picture on the right shows that perfectly.  They also stamp bold images perfectly!

Hope this information was helpful and interesting.  Perhaps a little chemistry lesson but fascinating reading none the less!
Have a blessed Sunday!
