Get Well card for Brooke!

I made this bright and cheery card for my friend Brooke who has been super sick for over a week now! I sure do miss her smiley face, and pray that she gets better soon!

My card today is based upon the incredible color challenge at Stacey's Curtain Call! These colors include: Summer Sun, (Retiring), Apricot Appeal (Retiring), Rose Red, Regal Rose, and Whisper White! I was also inspired by the super cute square card sketch challenge at Inkspirations!

Stampin' Essentials Tips:
  • I made my card size 4-1/4" Square so that it can still fit inside a standard A2 envelope! Since I had some extra room to play with on the length - I put my butterfly a little 'off' the page! Looks like it's taking flight, uh!?! Just something different! =)
  • The Razzleberry Lemonade DSP is retiring this June! Check back to my Stampin' Essentials blog for all the details on what will be retiring! I used the Crushed Curry floral patterned paper for my background! It looks so much like Summer Sun to me! This is actually my favorite patterned paper from that pack!
  • My layered butterfly was cut from several different colors of card stock using the Beautiful Wings die! You can get {6} butterflies from this one die! All the edges were inked with their cooresponding ink using Sponge Daubers for a subtle inked look!

Daisy Flower Tutorial using Scallop Circles #2 Die

Happy Memorial Day weekend to you! Since it's cold and rainy in Oregon today, it's the perfect weather to stay inside and stamp!!! My card today is based upon the Clean & Simple Stamping card sketch. The layout had the sentiment at the bottom, but I switched it up and added a sentiment tab using the Stampin' Up! Round Tab Punch. The colors of my card are based upon the color challenge at the Stampin' Royalty blog to use: Rich Razzleberry, Certainly Celery, and Pretty in Pink! I think The striped DSP from the Cottage Wall papers looks like they have pink in them! Don't you!?!

I'm super excited to share with you a brief Daisy Flower Tutorial using the Scallop Circles #2 die and the Big Shot Die-Cut machine! Here's how you make it:

1) Start by Die-Cutting {3} Whisper White Scallop Circles. TIP: I ran all {3} sheets of Whisper White card stock through my Big Shot at once.

2) Using your Paper Snips, trim each scallop towards the center - being careful not to cut all the way through the center.

3) Taking your 5-Petal Flower Punch, punch two flowers out of Certainly Celery card stock for the 'petals'. Then layer the three scallop circles on top of each other. TIP: You can also fan these out, but I like the look of them stacked right on top of each other better!

4) Using the 1-3/4" Circle punch, punch out a circle from Rich Razzleberry card stock. Then also using the 1-1/4" Circle punch, punch out a 1-1/4" Circle from the Cottage Wall DSP. Thread linen through a Whisper White button from the Button Latte package of buttons.

5) Assemble together placing the petals overlapping each other and tucked behind the daisy.

6) Decorate your envelope by adding coordinating DSP to the flap! Since my card is 4-1/4" square, it still fits inside the Standard A2 Envelope!

Stamps: Chic Boutique (113744)
Ink: Rich Razzleberry (115658), Whisper White Craft ink (101731), Certainly Celery (105217)
Card Stock: Certainly Celery (105125), Whisper White (100730), Rich Razzleberry (115316)
Paper: Cottage Wall DSP (115671)
Embellishments: Button Latte (114333), Rich Razzleberry 1/2" Polka-Dot Grosgrain Ribbon (115613), Linen Thread (104199), Earth Elements Brads (106955)
Punches: 5-Petal Flower (109041), Round Tab (108340), 1-3/4" Circle (112004), 1-1/4" Circle (104403)
Tools: Big Shot (113439), Scallop Circles #2 (113469)
Finished Size: 4-1/4" Square

HINT: If you don't have the Big Shot, you can also create this card on a smaller scale using the Scallop Circle Punch! My fellow demonstrator, Jeanne Al-Ghamdi who is also in my BZB Demontrator Group, created an adorable card in the 3x3 size using the Scallop Circle and 3/4" Circle Punch!

Stampin' Celebration Inspiration Challenge #4

Hello stamping friends! We have another beautiful challenge for you at the Stampin' Celebration Inspiration Challenge! I interpreted these colors as Sahara Sand, Soft Suede, Very Vanilla, and I used some retired Stampin' Up! Colors True Thyme and Cranberry Crisp! Do you remember these In Colors from a few years back? There are so many colors retiring right now and selling out quickly! My suggestion is to stock up on the colors you love because once they're gone - they are gone! Just like True Thyme and Cranberry Crisp! Isn't the title of the red color, Cranberry Crisp, just perfect for this challenge and that delicous piece of pie in the picture! hahaha! Here's what I came up with based upon the lovely challenge this week!
This little box was cut out of Soft Suede card stock using the Big Shot and the Bitty Box & Envelope Bigz XL die! The assembled size is: 2-3/8" x 2-3/8" and 3/4" thick! It's the perfect size for the Simply Adorned jewelry, chocolates and candies, and money or a gift card!
The Heartfelt Thanks card is stamped with the retired Stampin' Up! Heartfelt Thanks stamp set! I received this stamp set at Convention in 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah and I love the Two-Step Stampin' look you get with this floral set! The finished size of the card is 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" and was also entered in the KL Challenge for all torn up!
The bookmark was inspired by the card and measures 2-1/8" x 5-1/2". The background is stamped with the retired Canvas stamp set in Creamy Caramel ink on Sahara Sand card stock! I laminated the bookmark so that it would be sturdy and last awhile! The ribbon tied through the top is the 1/4" Chocolate Chip Grosgrain!

Stamps: Upsy Daisy (111710)
Ink: Creamy Caramel (103220), Chocolate Chip (100908)
Card Stock: Sahara Sand (105328), Soft Suede (115318), Very Vanilla (101650)
Embellishments: 1/4" Chocolate Chip Grosgrain Ribbon (111367), Linen Thread (104199), Mellow Moss Taffeta Ribbon (109069), Bravo Burgundy 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon (109028)
Tools: Big Shot (113439), Bitty Box & Envelope Bigz XL die (115967), Lots of Tags 4-Pack dies (114508)

It's A Boy! Card for Colour Q Challenge #34

Hello Tuesday! Love Tuesdays because it's a new Colour Q Challenge! This week is a sweet combination of Certainly Celery, Ballet Blue (Retiring), Pumpkin Pie, Chocolate Chip, Kraft, and Whisper White! Perfect for a baby card, which I also made for the challenge at CC EE Stampers.
Here's what I came up with based upon the Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge! My card size is 4-1/4" square, which can still fit into a standard A2 envelope! Using my Big Shot, I die-cut the larger Scallop Circle from the Scallop Circles #2 die. The Paper Piercing Tool was used to punch holes in each scallop!

Stampin' Essentials Tips:

  • My sailboat was made using the 1-3/4" Circle Punch as the boat. The sails were first punched out with the 1-3/8" Square Punch and the 1-1/4" Square Punch, then cut into triangles!
  • Using the Polka Dot square stamp in the For All You Do stamp set, I stamped the polka dots in Chocolate Chip ink on the Chocolate Chip card stock for the boat!
  • The 'It's a Boy!' sentiment is from the Nursery Necessities stamp set and is stamped in Whisper White Craft ink!
  • Ballet Blue is retiring! It's part of the COLOR RENOVATION! Click here for more information! Some of our favorite colors have been selling out quickly!

Mojo Monday Sketch in Tangerine Tango

I'm so excited Tangerine Tango is coming back to the Stampin' Up! color line-up! Starting with the 2010-2011 Idea Book Catalog, Tangerine Tango will be in the Brights Collection! It's a wonderful shade of Orange, which was the challenge at the TPE blog to use orange! The Mojo Monday sketch was a fun one this week and here's what I came up with using the Wings of Friendship Level 2 Hostess stamp set!
The Cupcake Craft Challenges blog had a challenge to use Black, Gray, and one other color, which I chose as Tangerine Tango!
Stampin' Essentials Tips:
  • The wing of my bird is patterned paper from the retired Sweet Pea Stack! I used the Two-Step Bird Punch to punch out his wing! The punch out layers perfectly over the original stamped wing! This punch is a carry over item from the Occasions Mini catalog and is still available for purchase and retails for $15.95!
  • You can earn the Wings of Friendship Hostess Level 2 stamp set for FREE with a $300 workshop and/or personal order! Email me for more information or to book a workshop! This set will only be available through June 30th!
  • To follow the sketch, I stamped the 'friendship' sentiment then punched it out using the Curly Label Punch and adhered it behind the layers of card stock and papers!

Stamps: Wings of Friendship Hostess Level 2 set (114308)

Scallop Edge Tutorial using Fancy Flower Punch

I love learning new techniques, don't you!?! I have a tutorial to share with you today using the Extra Large Fancy Flower Punch to create a scallop edge! The sketch at the Clean & Simple Stamping blog showcased a large scallop border on the layout, so to create this I pulled out the Stampin' Up! Extra Large Fancy Flower Punch. Here's how you turn a flower punch into a scallop edge:
Using the Fancy Flower Punch, punch out 2 flowers from Basic Black card stock.
Then taking your Paper Snips, trim off the petals - two at a time.
Grid Paper is the key to lining up the top of the petals side-by-side.
Then add adhesive to the card stock piece the scallops will be layered 'behind', and you're done!

Stampin' Essentials Tips:

  • The Fancy Flower Punch (118073) is one of the Occasion Mini Catalog items still available for purchase! It's $15.95 and so versatile - it's not just a flower punch!!
  • The large silver circle brad in the center of my flowers is a FREEBIE during the month of May! Purchase any qualifying stamp set or the My Digital Studio (118108) and earn a package of Designer Brads for FREE! Click here for more information!
  • NEW! The Square Lattice Embossing Folder (119976) from the Summer Mini Catalog added just the right touch of texture to my flower! For $7.95 this is a must have accessory to your Big Shot Die-Cut Machine.

This 3x3 card is the perfect size to send a little love note! The sentiment is from the Well Scripted stamp set and fits perfectly inside this die-cut Whisper White tag from the Lots of Tags 4-Pack dies!
Paper cupcakes! Yum!!! Using the Scallop Circle #2 die and Chocolate Chip card stock scored every 1/4" I was able to make a 'cupcake' out of card stock! The top of the cupcake is embellished with flowers punched out using the 5-Petal Flower punch and the Boho Blossoms punch!
Die-Cut boxes are so fun and easy to make! This is the Fancy Favor box die-cut out of Elegant Eggplant Textured card stock! Before I assembled the box, I punched out the oval using the Wide Oval Punch then adhered the So Saffron Curly label around the opening!

Congratulations Card for CQC Challenge #33

Tuesdays are so fun! I love sharing with you the creations I make for the Design Team at the Colour Q! We have a blast! Here's the color challenge for this week! The colors include Summer Sun (Retiring), Kiwi Kiss (Retired), Bermuda Bay (Retiring), Soft Suede, and Whisper White! I hope you'll get your stamps out and join us!
My card this week is based upon the sketch at the Clean & Simple Stamping blog! I love this layout! It's super cute! Flowers sprinkled throughout a card layout are always great! ;)
Stampin' Essentials Tips:
  • I used the Stampin' Up! Boho Blossoms punch (my favorite flower punch - I use it ALL the time) and punched out flowers in Bermuda Bay, Kiwi Kiss, and Soft Suede card stock.
  • Then I layered the flowers together and adhered them to my Whisper White card stock!
  • The centers of my flowers are yellow brads from the Circle Fire Rhinestone brads! Don't they match great!?!
  • My ribbon is from actually the Stampin' Up! Crushed Curry 1/2" Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon, but it looks so much like Summer Sun that I used it on my card!
  • I tied the ribbon in a bow, then attached a Summer Sun Corduroy button in the middle of the bow with a Mini Glue Dot!
