Clean and Simple Thursday - You're on my Mind

There are several retired Stampin' Up! products that I just miss! One of which is the Urban Oasis DSP! I featured this beautiful paper on my card today since it's just a cool combination of Kraft, Basic Gray, and Basic Black! Very neutral and very masculine at the same time!

My card layout is based upon the sketch at Clean & Simple Stamping! I swaped out the circle element and placed my die-cut leaves there instead! I found that Sahara Sand is a great monochromatic color to Kraft! They really go great together!

Do you miss the Scallop Trim Border punch!?! Don't worry - this beauty will be available for purchase in the 2010-2011 IBC!

Congrats featuring Mr. Owl for the SSSC

Before I get going on today's card and info I wanted to share a Stampin' Up! product update with you all - it's kinda a big one! The Sweet Pea DSP Stack (117161) and Sweet Pea Stitched Felt (117266) are no longer available! Stampin' Up! has depleted their inventory so these products are unavailable for purchase from the Occasions Mini Catalog! Sorry if you're bummed - my card does feature some of that amazing and VERY popular Sweet Pea DSP Stack!

Okay, here's my card for this Wonderful Wednesday in April! I think Karen's sketches each week are just dreamy! They are so fun and versatile it just makes me happy. Plus they usually incorporate circles, so I have to bust out my Circle Scissor, which is always good times!!! Today I used the Scallop Circle dies #2 and cut that out of Chocolate Chip card stock. Then a circle was cut out of Baja Breeze (so happy it's coming back) to 2-7/8"! Then my Whisper White Circle is 2-5/8"!

Stampin' Essentials Tips:
  • I stamped my owl from the Fox and Friends stamp set in Chocolate Chip Craft Ink. I rarely used Craft ink since it takes forever to dry - but my Classic Chocolate Chip doesn't quite cover the image like I wanted it to! Also, ALL THE CRAFT INK PADS will be retiring this June! In the next catalog there will only be the Craft re-inkers for scrapbooking and coloring Chipboard!
  • The branch my owl is 'perched' on is from the Two-Step Bird punch and is punched from Certainly Celery card stock!
  • I used a couple of strips of the Sweet Pea DSP and So Saffron card stock from my three strips along the left side of my card to follow the layout!!! They are different lengths and widths by the way!
  • A little texture adds a lot to projects and is one of my favorite, 'subtle' ways to dress up my cards! Polka Dots are just too COOL!

Stamps: Fox & Friends (118565 - Clear Mount), Fundamental Phrases (114968)
Ink: Chocolate Chip Craft ink (101816), Taken with Teal (103257)
Card Stock: Baja Breeze (available July 1st in the 2010-2011 IBC), Whisper White (100730), Old Olive (100702), So Saffron (105118)
Paper: Sweet Pea DSP Stack (no longer available from the Occasions Mini Catalog)
Embellishments: Playground Buttons (116313), Linen Thread (104199)
Punches: Two-Step Bird Punch (117191)
Tools: Big Shot (113439), Perfect Polka Dots (117335), Circle Scissor Plus (112530), Glass Mat (112531)
Finished Size: 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" (A2)
I definitely don't make enough masculine cards - so I hope this card had a manly feel to it!!! It'd work great for a graduation card too!
Hope you enjoy your day and stamp something fun!

Colour Q #30 and Taylor's Collage Card Sketch

Good morning! I've been looking forward to this color challenge at the Colour Q for sometime now! I just think these colors together are wonderful! What a great combination of Sage Shadow, Always Artichoke, Cameo Coral, Bravo Burgundy, and Whisper White! Here's what I came up with this week:

My card also uses the collage card sketch challenge at Taylor Expressions! This square layout was so fun to work with! I started with my card case of Always Artichoke cut to size for a 5-1/4" square card. Then I layered on Cameo Coral card stock, then Sage Shadow, and finally to the fun part of the squares! I punched out these Bravo Burgundy squares with my 1-3/8" square punch and lined them up 3 across for a total of 9 squares to make my 'grid'. Then I punched out an Always Artichoke scallop circle, a 1-3/8" Cameo Coral circle and then finally my sentiment punched out with at 1-1/4" Whisper White circle!

To decorate each square, I tried to incorporate punches, texture, embellishments and stamping! The stamped images are from the Pocket Silhouettes stamp set - and I off centered them just a little for some contrast! I hope you like this card and feel free to play along with the Colour Q this week!

Mojo Monday Sketch and Color Dare Challenge!

What a fun color challenge at the Color Dare this week! Using my two favorite Stampin' Up! greens: Old Olive and Certainly Celery, along with the bright (and retiring) Summer Sun, and Whisper White! I paired this color challenge with the Mojo Monday Sketch #136. Square cards are always fun for me since they are bigger and more, fun stamping and embellishments can be added! My card is 5-1/4" Square and fits perfectly inside the Stampin' Up! Whisper White Square Envelopes (107289). Here's my take on the Mojo Monday sketch this week:
Round or Square? I went with Square and used the Vintage Vogue stamp set from the Occasions Mini Catalog page 26. This lovely stamp set features 8 wonderful stamps and comes in Wood Mount (117690) OR Clear Mount (118598). This stamp set WILL be in the 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalog - which is great news! After April 30th though, it won't be available again until the catalog release on July 1st! Best to order now so you don't have to wait two months before you can order it! I also entered this project in the OCCC Blossoms Challenge! Flowers are just so fun to stamp, emboss, and decorate with! I found a new challenge blog today thanks to my friend, Stacey! It's called DeNami Design blog they had a Spring Themed Challege, so I entered this card there as well!
Stampin' Essentials Tips:
  • My 'F' monogram and friends stamp is on a 2" Whisper White circle cut with my Circle Scissor Plus! I first stamped it in Summer Sun ink, then on another piece of card stock I stamped it in Old Olive ink, trimmed out with my Paper Snips, and adhered this piece on top of the Summer Sun 'F'. My Certainly Celery Circle is 2-1/8" and the Old Olive Circle is 2-1/4" all layered together!
  • I embossed a piece of Certainly Celery card stock with the Finial Press Embossing folder for some texture and a delicate look!
  • My polka-dot ribbon is actually Crushed Curry 1/2" Grosgrain Ribbon with a Filigree brad in the middle! The yellows are so similiar and it looks great with the Summer Sun Corduroy brads!

A Huge SNEAK PEEK to the Summer Mini!

Hi Friends! I'm so excited to share this sneak peek card with you that I made at my SU Demonstrator meeting this morning! We're just days away from the NEW Summer Mini Catalog which comes out May 1st and with so many NEW and Wonderful products to share I wanted to start early with the samples! Our meeting this morning was with our BZB Stampers group for the gals in Barb Brimhall's downline! She's so wonderful and I'm so glad I'm in her group! We stamped this card below, played Bunco, ate, and chatted - it was super fun! So......here is the project we made using a new Decor Stencil and stamp set from the Summer Mini Catalog!

Let me just tell ya - Decor Stencils are so much fun, I totally love these!!! The new one we used is called Mostly Vintage (118877) and will sell for $9.95! You can use both the positive and negative stencil and mask t0 create vintage accents on any card, scrapbook, home decor project and so much more! The mask approximate dimensions are 3-7/8" x 6-6/8". The Stencil approximate dimensions are 4-1/8" x 4-2/8".
Stampin' Essentials Tips:
  • I first stamped the sentiment with Melon Mambo Ink in the lower right hand corner. This sentiment comes from the NEW stamp set Favorite Thoughts featuring {4} wonderful quotes for and about women! The Wood Mount set (116968) will sell for $15.95 and the Clear Mount set (120048) will sell for $11.95. I like this quote by Eleanor Roosevelt so I used this one on my card! But this set also features quotes from Jean Giraudoux and Laurel Thatcher Ulrich!
  • Then taking the positive image and using repositionable adhesive and sponge daubers, I layed it down on my card stock and sponged through the stencil with Rose Red ink!
  • Then taking the negative image (outline), I layed this down on top of the other image and sponged Apricot Appeal ink on it!
  • Then using some shimmer paint (featured in the Winter Mini Catalog and still Available) I spritzed my card for some shine!
  • Tying the Regal Rose Grosgrain ribbon in a knot around my card for the finishing touch, and my card was done!
  • My Apricot Appeal card base is a Retiring color come June 1st! Now is a great time to stock up on your favorite colors while they're still available!

Keep It Simple, Sweetie! For You Card

It's Friday! Hope you had a wonderful week! Mine was busy for sure and I'm very tired this evening! But it's all good because the PPA had a KISS (Keep It Simple, Sweetie) challenge this week, which worked out perfectly for me since I'm totally wiped out! What does KISS mean for me? Well, for me it means TONS of white space and NO embellishments! Someone sent me a sweet message inviting me to play along with a color challenge so I joined in on the fun and used the PPC colors of: Garden Green, Brilliant Blue, Bashful Blue, and Whisper White!
My card layout is based upon the sketch challenge at the Stampin' Royalty blog! The Top Note Die (113463) was key to this layout! After I cut mine out, I ran it through my Big Shot again with the Elegant Bouquet Embossing Folder for some texture!

Don't you love the Two-Step Bird Punch in the Occasions Mini Catalog!?! I have great news for you! It will still be available for purchase after April 30th and will most likely be featured in the 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalog! Someone left me a nice note telling me much they love this punch and I totally agree! It's by far the most versatile, cute, and easy to use punch Stampin' Up! has ever offered! It's a must I have for any paper crafter, I think!

Stamps: Great Friend (113792)
Ink: Garden Green (102272)

Polka Dot Happy Birthday card for Taylored Expressions

Happy Thursday to you! Super excited about the card sketch challenge from Taylored Expressions this week! With a fun card size and polka dots it just seemed perfect to turn this layout into a masculine Happy Birthday card! My take on the sketch features a whimsical sentiment from the Stampin' Up! Well Scripted stamp set, Sweet Pea DSP, and Circle Designer brads!
On the back of my card I added the Flourish hand stamped by stamp with layered circles to keep with the circle theme! I also added layered circles inside my card to cover up the 'brad legs' - but it's also fun to dress up the entire card for a finished look!

For some reason I REALLY like this photo I took of the card laying down! hahahaha! The Library clip at the top features a small piece of Chocolate Chip Grosgrain ribbon tied in a knot, then adhered with a Mini Glue Dot!

Mojo Card Sketch with Butterflies

Don't you love card sketches! I sure do! Come Monday morning I can't wait to check the Mojo sketch for the week an begin designing my creation based upon their fabulous layouts! This week was no exception and I just love the Sweet Pea DSP Stack which is in the Occasions Mini Catalog so I had to use that on my 'hi' card!
The Our Creative Corner blog had a challenge this week to use Butterflies, so they were the focoal point of my card layout! My butterflies were cut using my Big Shot and the Beautiful Butterflies die (114507)! Did you know you can get {6} different butterflies from this die? Oh Yes, it's super amazing! I layered two on my card today and added texture to the larger pink one! The smaller brown one I stamped on the side using an image from the Pocket Silhouettes stamp set!

The 'hi' circle sentiment is from the Fashion District rub-ons which retired last year! It fits perfectly inside my Whisper White flower, punched out with the Boho Blossoms Punch! For my library clip accent, I tied a knot in a piece of Pretty in Pink 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon, trimmed the edges (so they are short), then I used a Mini Glue Dot and adhered the ribbon to the top of the clip!

Thanks for stopping by my little stamping corner of the world! I hope you all have a wonderful day and stamp something pretty! If you're needing Stampin' Up! supplies you can place your order On-Line 24/7, by clicking here!

Technique Tuesday: Masking and ColourQ #29

Hello! Are you ready for a BRIGHT and CHEERY color challenge at the Colour Q this week? How about some Bravo Burgundy, Tangerine Tango, Yoyo Yellow, Green Galore, and Whisper White!?! This was definitely a challenge for me since I'm not a huge fan of yellow - but I decided to use a fun technique called Masking with Stampin' Up!'s Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set! Here's a close up of the flowers - notice the different colored petals aren't overlapping!!! Read below for instructions and more photos!
Here's my card! I used the NEW Square Lattice Embossing folder that will be available May 1st in the Summer Mini Catalog! It's another Sneak Peak for you so I hope you enjoy and add this great embossing folder to your Big Shot tool collection! I layered two sheets of the Bravo Burgundy card stock together - something I've never done before, but I'm trying some new things! Although my ribbon is not Tangerine Tango - its actually Dusty Durango - I still think they match surprisingly well! My corduroy buttons aren't Yoyo Yellow - they are actually Summer Sun! These match great as well! Gotta love Stampin' Up! and coordinating monochromatic embellishments!!!

I started off with my Green Galore and Yoyo Yellow ink pads, as well as the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set and my piece of Whisper White card stock! Don't be sad - you can still order Green Galore and Yoyo Yellow!! Even though they are retiring June 30th - they're still available NOW!!!

I stamped the rose in Green Galore ink in the bottom corner - some of the image on and off the paper!

To create the 'Mask' I stamped the rose then cut it out with my paper snips! As you can see from the many colors on my 'Mask' I like this stamp set a lot for this technique!

Then I put the 'Mask' over the Green Galore rose and stamped the other flower image in Yoyo Yellow ink - some on and off the 'Mask'.

Take away the 'Mask' and I'm left with a perfectly Green Galore rose with no Yoyo Yellow flower on it - just nestled nicely beside it! I did the same with a second YoYo Yellow flower to the left of the rose. My 'Wonderful Mother' sentiment is from the Well Scripted set and stamped in Bravo Burgundy ink!

Kind Thanks in Chocolate and Kiwi

Hello! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I sure did! My friend Lizzy lives on a farm and we fed her goats and chased chickens around! It was quite fun and very amusing! Her mom makes the BEST Gluten-free goodies! It's always a delight when I get to have muffins or cookies that are gluten-free! Most things have wheat and/or gluten so I savor GOOD tasting baked goods that are gluten-free!

Anyways, onto today's card! The Just Add Ink blog had a fantastic color challenge using two of my favorites: Kiwi Kiss, Chocolate Chip and Barely Banana!

I paired those great colors with a sketch from Karen's Sweet Sunday Challenge and this 'Kind Thanks' card is what I came up with!

Using the Awash With Flowers stamp set, I rotated and repeatedly stamped the flower image to get a full looking daisy - since the stamp is just a half of a flower image - if that makes sense! I went out of my comfort zone quite a bit on this card stamping on Kiwi Kiss card stock and throwing a ton of brads in one spot for the center of the flower! It's always good to try new things and "expand your range" - one of my favorite quotes from the movie Step Up!

Basically So Tangerine for PPA Card Sketch

Good Morning! It's another FABULOUS sketch challenge at the PPA! Love the row of three squares! This element is so fun because there is so much you can do with it! Here's my take on the sketch:

My color choices were inspired by the challenge at the Color Throwdown! We were to use Tangerine Tango, So Saffron, and Basic Gray! Of course I threw in Whisper White as well! I combined a couple of my favorite Stampin' Up! stamp sets: Pocket Silhouettes (111672) and Gratuitous Graffiti (111636) Background stamp!
Guess what else??? My card has a HUGE sneak peek from the Stampin' Up! Summer Mini Catalog which becomes available to customers May 1st! Can you guess what it is? Okay, I can't wait to tell you, it's the NEW Square Lattice Textured Impressions Folder! Isn't it gorgeous!?! Honestly, once I ran this through my Big Shot, I wasn't sure which side was the 'right' one side they both looked beautiful. So I just chose which one I liked the look of best!
